Considering the striking similarities (especially Derek's pose) between these two pictures : I would bet heavily that in the still of the future war Martin is the guy on the left while Kyle is in the middle and Derek on the right (the picture's so small you can only tell who Derek is while the other two look alike because of the hats). It would mirror the latter image with the two resistance soldiers once again standing together only in the past and John being in Kyle's place. Seems appropriate.

This episode looks like it's going to be great. I'm lookin' forward to seeing John's training. Yeah well there are a couple reasons for that - 1 Zack and Ash are writing it (Dungeons and Dragons and The Turk) and it's going to be 52 minutes! This is excellent news; aside from the finale, D&D is my favorite ep, maybe even a little more than the finale.... it's hard to choose.

FOX wrote in the picture's description that Kyle is on the left, Martin in the middle.

Eh, it wouldn't be the first time a network has gotten descriptions for a promo wrong. One time for Supernatural the network said this was Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester but it's so not. I might be right, I might be wrong, but I think it would be pretty cool if I was right. It has to be more than a coincidence that those two pictures look so much alike.

As much as I'd like you to be right, rosered, the captioning is actually correct. That's Jonathan Jackson on the left, Will in the center and Brian on the right in the future picture (Kyle's just returned to Hammerhead Observation Post to report some very bad news), while the pic on the right is Will, Thomas, and Brian at Presidio Alto. There are some other scenes, though, in which the shot composition of present and future parallel nicely...

Ah, that's too bad Turk. There's such a cool parallel if Kyle and Martin were reversed in those shots.
By the way, are we going to find out what happened in the basement in D&D in this episode?

I think they saved the wrong images - note they all have a little expand box in the top left hand corner. I think they forgot to open them up fully or something. Oh well they work until we get better copies.

FOX is releasing smaller images now. I don't like it. All the others used to be 3900px. Those are all just 2600px.

Meh, I don't care how they look right now, I'm just glad to see some bigger photos.

Can't wait for that.

The little boy in the promos is called Marty Beddell. So i guess he is possibly the brother of Martin Beddell the guy John and Derek go to protect. So it seems that Sarah has to protect Marty.
Also i wonder what would happen to Derek in the future if he survives.Like if they fail to stop judgement day what would happen to Derek.Would he become one of John's top commanding officers?Or would he become a shadowy figure that manipulated John's actions and decisions from behind the scenes. If he was one of John's top commanding officers then he would need change his name and appearance since everyone would know who he is.If boths Derek's older and younger met each other by accident in the future then everything may go to hell.Younger Derek would have to be told why older Derek is there and then he'd probably have to be told about Kyle. And if he gets told would that affect his life knowing that for his commanding officer who he hardly knows to be born his little brother who he absolutely adores and loves to die.If he became a shadowy figure then he would have to remain hidden in order for everything to not be altered. Both could work well since he would have knowledge on the battles and that would give them a great tactical advantage.I hope that the writers try and make this clear if they decide to do any full future war episodes (not Derek or Cameron flashbacks but real ones) where we see an older John and Derek,Ellison,Charley and Cameron as his top advisors. It would make for one interesting episode.(I didn't add Sarah since she is supposedly dead by then).

Marty is short for Martin. Since there's another Martin Beddell, apart from Will Rothhaar, listed in the official credits for the episode, I'm guessing the Terminator here is going the Arnold route in T1 where he's killing everyone who has the same name as his target. One Martin gets killed, Derek probably recognizes the name in the paper or something, the Connors realize what's going on, and they split up to protect the remaining Martin Beddells that are in the city.

DerekThomasReese, I think that's covered under "time travel paradox" - meaning by definition the time line has been changed and Derek will now never survive into the future as the self he is in the present.
Don't try to overthink it. According to the writers, this is called "The Black Hole" that they try to avoid falling into in the writers' room.
I think the only person who's trying to make it into a different future - hopefully without Skynet, but in any event with Connor alive - is Cameron. My "Grand Unified Theory of TSCC" is that Cameron is motivated by pure self-aware survival need to hide out in the past and stay close to Connor so that she survives no matter what happens in the future..
The first thing she said to Sarah in episode one of the first season was, "I was sent here to protect John."
That wasn't true. Or not entirely true. She IS intending to protect him. But in reality, she views him as HER protector! He's the only one who can insure that she stays functional both in the past and the future. That's why she legitimately "panicked" and oversold her entreaties when it looked like John was going to deactivate her in episode one of this season.
The only thing that works against my theory is her telling Sarah never to allow him to bring her back again. I haven't figured out any ulterior motive for that statement yet - but you never know.
I know why she told him in episode two that he "can't be trusted" . She meant the other humans both in the present and especially in the future. She was warning him in an oblique way to keep their relationship in the future a secret. James Middleton referred to this in an interview where he said that John Connor goes beyond what other people think is right in fighting Skynet by "embracing the enemy". He was referring to Connor using reprogrammed Terminators despite the way it upset Derek when he found out which presumably reflects most of the reaction of humans (except the officer who briefed Derek), but I'd say that phrase pretty well drops a big clue!
My theory anyway.
