Form the Sci-Fire Wire talk with Josh...on how much or actually little time travel there has been- Speaking in an interview on the show's set at the Warner Brothers studio lot in Burbank, Calif., on Sept. 9, Friedman said that there are more people who will be taking that trip through the time machine.
"There are some people who [ask], 'Why do people keep coming back?'" Friedman acknowledged. "Well, first of all, I think, ... there's not a lot of people that come back from the future. We've had really only one person, one group of ... four people, [who] came back, but only one of them ... survived [Brian Austin Green's Derek Reese]. That was only one event, one timeable event. I know that originally in the mythology, it was all, like, it's very difficult for people to come back. ...
"Well, it requires a lot of energy, and it's not an easy thing to do. And there aren't that many ... devices to do it with, and the ones that are constantly hunted, I think. But I'm not opposed to people coming back."Thanks for that, Ross. Glad to see him being forward about this issue.

Yeah... I'm not so fond of that.
As long as they don't go overboard, I'll be fine with it.

I think it all boils down to this.
First movie... per Kyle: It's just me and him. (Smashed the Defense grid nothing can go back war about to be supposedly over).
Second movie: T-1000 and another T-800 arrive. (Unknown whether they were sent at the same time or not...possibility exists that the war is ongoing because although SCRIPTED it was never shot. While it was due to budgetary restrictions it's also because cameron didn't want to set a definitive date for the war to end).
Therefore although as Josh states it's difficult that should not mean that it's an impossible thing to do. Nor do I believe for a moment that the writers will abuse it to death.
Also of note is that while it is nitpicky there has only been ONE time travel shown on the show...that of Derek and his team...the rest can only be inferred.
I trust Josh and the writing team, they haven't let me down yet.
And for those interested.
T3: The T-X and T-850 come back.....from Further into the future. (Connor is killed in 2032 we know the war lastsat least until then).

I wonder if the next series of Terminator movies is going to treat the T-3 movie as canonical, or if they're going to ignore it like the TV series does. I'd say that would be a good idea. Just explain that the time line has changed due to past events and blow it off. Since we're mucking around with the basic ridiculousness of time travel paradox anyway, you can pretty much explain anything any way you want.
I mean, they jumped Sarah over her death, why not jump Connor over his? It's a bit funny - done consistently, you basically become immortal using that process! ;D

Awesome scene. It's nice to see Sarah finally taking issue with Derek's methods.
Also, I'm making a prediction that her shoulder injury leads her to a doctor at some point, where an x-ray shows no break, but further tests reveal a bone marrow problem. We obviously haven't seen the last of the cancer story and I think we'll all assuming it'll be leukemia. So, this could lead into it. Someone on another message board made a prediction way back after The Turk episode that Sarah would develop leukemia and the thing that would save her life would be terminator blood. It's a little BSG-ish, but I like the idea. How much would that frak with Sarah's head to have to be saved by the machines she's spent her life fighting against?

Yeah the 'broken arm' thing is really leading up to something. Shouldn't Cameron know exactly what's going to be wrong with Sarah? John would have told her, especially if there is a way to save his mother.

But if it plays out like you said and Sarah could be saved somehow then I'm ok with it. Because that would be a cool twist to the story. But if they actually have Sarah die because of leukemia I'm gonna be really pissed.

I still do not like this T3 crap of the story. Why did they have go there at all? They needed something to justify Sarah being propelled into the future. Like Cameron says, this gives her a chance to fight Skynet when it's being created while she's still alive. But if all things are the same she's supposed to die in 6 years. Well past Judgment Day anyway.

I couldn't agree more with Jen.
That storyline is stupid and ridiculous.

They really needed to justify the time travel by having Sarah die of cancer? Sorry but that doesn't totally do it for me. I'm pretty sure they could have thought of more pressing matters or better reasons as to why they had to jump. Since it doesn't really matter if they fought in 1999 or 2007. Andy Goode and all the people involved were already alive back then after all. They were all working for the tech industry (like Andy interning at Cyberdine) or working on building something with computers. Who says she has to die at all? She could very well survive JD and die in the war afterwards or die of old age or whatever. After all TSCC is writing it's own story now because of the time travel. Heck she could die during the current fight when they try to prevent Skynet from emerging. I just don't see any reason for cancer to be brought into the story.

I'm not too thrilled with the cancer story either, but it does add a level of urgency to her cause. And I think that's probably why they threw it in there. As if stopping judgement day weren't enough, Sarah's got her own life clock potentially counting down. But I really can't imagine Future!John sending Cameron back with that info just to kick his mom into action, so there must be a bigger reason why Cameron knows. I think (hope) that means one of Cameron's missions is actually to keep tabs on Sarah's health and save her life when the time comes.

I'm not justifying it, I'm just saying that it doesn't seem to be there just for the sake of giving Sarah cancer. Personally I don't have a problem with it. Maybe since it was on low burner back then it was close to impossible to really figure it all out. With active development in 2007 it's easier get the picture. What I'm saying is it's possibly irrelevant for the show (besides something for the character to think on occasionally) because they are unlikely to move into post JD territory. Sarah would get cancer in six years, what happens then anyone can make up for themselves.

I think (hope) that means one of Cameron's missions is actually to keep tabs on Sarah's health and save her life when the time comes. Yeah but how will they work that storyline into the show? Unless Sarah comes down with a rapidly growing form of cancer where she is dead 3 months after she was diagnosed then they will have to show the struggle. They will have to do the whole treatment, side effects and slowly dying part. And it will throw a wrench in the whole mission. Yes John and Sarah are a little at odds and they will be even more this Season but I just can't see John going out every day trying to stop Skynet when his mother is at home slowly dying. He will want to take care of her. Want to be there for her. Like any child would want to be. And I know John knows there are bigger things he needs to take care of. Saving millions comes before saving one life, so to speak. But all that goes out the window when it involves someone you love. So either they drop this crap or like you suggested there is a way to heal her.

One thing I'll say about it though. I'm not thrilled about the idea of a character in state of "slowly dying" over several episodes in a row. Never liked that in any show.
