The whole point of The Mousetrap is that once you're involved in Terminator knowledge you can't just leave. The Terminator will find you. So even if Charlie wanted to...it just wouldn't happen. What's preventing Charlie from leaving? If he loses contact with Sarah then he would no longer be useful to Cromartie. On the other hand, the more he comes in contact with Sarah, the more people he puts in danger. Sarah has no one left except John. I doubt that Charlie is like that. Michelle can't be the only person in Charlie's life. He still has friends and perhaps family members to worry about.

We don't really know one way or the other at this point because we have no history on Charley before he was engaged to Sarah. I more inclined to think he has no family, though, because of the way he took off to Los Angeles after hearing about Sarah and John's deaths and then stayed. He could have scattered family, of course, but if he had family back in Nebraska, I'd think he would have been more likely to return home after visiting LA.

Cromartie could still go after Michelle's family.

By the way, on Charley not putting pressure on Michelle's wound - it's because he thought she was bleeding internally. Pressure wouldn't have helped that. She was bleeding fairly bad from her back, but he told Sarah he couldn't tell without an exam whether she was bleeding internally. Which is why he didn't want to walk, despite Sarah desperately needing to get out of there and back to John. When Michelle made the decision to walk anyway, that's what killed her.
I wonder if Charley will actually blame Sarah for Michelle's death - not only because of the whole situation Sarah got him involved in, but also specifically for causing Michelle to decide to walk out with them, which is what actually killed her.
