Your first thought leaving a movie should not be "dude, severe lack of immosuppressants after the apocalypse." LOL. LOL. Matched my "jeez, wow I'm amazed they managed to tissue-type in a field hospital in the middle of an apocalyptic wasteland..." I came out feeling as if I'd been bludgeoned with something blunt for 2 hours. Cat's review was quite succinct: "Watching that, your show looks like a masterpiece." It all looked nicely post-judgement day apocalyptic. And that's the best thing I can say about it. Bale did nothing but growl and was shoved on the sidelines for the majority of the movie. Marcus and Kyle were the most interesting characters and even they could do nothing with the script they were saddled with, and I use the word script in the loosest possible sense. Every new terminator was given a name so the kids could go and buy one from the store straight after the movie ended. Terminators are supposed to be practically unstoppable, so hey, let's build one with an achilles heel??? Great idea. Compare the multitude of metal in this to the one, implacable and bloody terrifying terminator in the original... For a franchise that created one of the most memorable female characters ever, the women were reduced to barefoot and pregnant (not a bad thing in Kate's case cos the actress was lousy) or given so little screentime they barely registered as a blip amongst all the explosions. How a movie so relentless in its action and set-pieces was so very boring is a puzzle I don't have an answer for. If this is the way the franchise is heading; this soulless exercise is merchandising and wham bam film-making, then I feel very sad. All it made me do is miss TSCC even more and I didn't think that that was possible.

I saw it last wednesday and watching this movie was just like someone said in one of the reviews: It's like watching a videogame without participating on it. The "script" was just ridiculous. Seriously, that movie made me miss TSCC even more than I already do.

Compare the multitude of metal in this to the one, implacable and bloody terrifying terminator in the original... To be fair, TSCC also severely weakened the Terminators. In the deleted chip removal scene in T2, Sarah had to use power tools to get access to Uncle Bob's chip. In TSCC, all they needed was a switchblade.

True, but it takes a bit of time and effort to do so and you have to pin the buggers down for long enough which usually means you need one on your side a la Cameron with Vick. The movie was so stupid, it made a big deal out of the back of the neck thing then barely utilised it anyway <sigh> Just another point that made no sense in a movie that made no sense.

Seen it 3 times with very big Terminator fans here in So Cal.
It is not often a film is applauded by both Fans and non fans alike.
It got better with each viewing...and is as grimy and awesome as I'd expected.
Skynet's surprisingly smart plan is also made much clearer with repeated viewings.
Can't wait for the extended DVD though some of my favorite scenes from the Trailers were absent from the film.

I am so disappointed in this movie its not even funny. I never did get as hyped as some, mainly because I expected it to suck based on the choice of director and writers. Once I knew about Bale and seeing one of the better trailers I decided to give it a chance and I dare say even got a little optimistic. Well, I’ve learned my lesson and should have gone with my gut instinct. That’s hard earned money I really wish I had back. It’s bad, really bad when you walk out of a movie and are unsure whether it is worse than or ties with the crap that was T3.

It was not really like the other movies at all. All of the environments were the same dull colors. The terminators all kind of sucked at terminating most of the time. Even though they had more then enough opportunity to kill just about everyone. Most of the story is just recycled lines from the original movies. There is not much character development. You don't feel attracted to any characters.

I have to say, I wasnt totally displeased with the film, however if anyone wishes for any hope of correcting terminator at this point we'll all speak loud and clear: THIS MOVIE HAD TOO LITTLE STORY. The problems: - censored for pg-13 - Edited to hell. Resulting in lack of character for John, Blairs reasons for liking Marcus. Action overload felt when Marcus jumps on the air HK. *Biggest problem of the film. - Crane and Mototerminator swinging around hitting air HK farce. - Camps too quick, underdeveloped: too much grabbing and no result of what happens to people. - Skynet facility looks too human made, such as white cleanrooms. - Talking skynet explaining its plan to marcus. Cliche. - No resistance escaping the skynet facility. Shouldve been a mini war. And what the hell was up with the score? The video game has FAR better music... thats just embarassing. Overall, felt like a war film with seldom story, good acting, good action, good cinematography and style. Not too embarassing, but sabotaged nonetheless. 6.5 or 7/10 In a nutshell: We fixed the farce action (mostly) and the silly humor and we adopted a new problem: very little story. It plays better as a prequel. Beats T3 though. Dawei thought so also, and has similar complaints.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but the machines were extremely ineffective. Take the Harvester for example, its whole purpose is to capture humans and yet it has no way of incapacitating them. It has no smoke grenades, no tranquilizers, no net launchers, nothing that can help it do its job. Those mototerminators were of no help either. They have no way of capturing people.

Well the harvester was just suppose to grab humans then call for an air transport. And the moto-terminators are designed to act like cowboys and just round'em up, not capture. But, I still see your point since it seems there design has more form then actual function.

The harvester arrived on an air transport. An Optimus Prime sized robot can't just wander around the wasteland looking for humans. It would be spotted from 10 miles away. The machines would have to already know the location of the humans before they can send a harvester on an air transport otherwise the harvester would never be able to catch anyone. That's what makes the harvester so useless. With the resources it would take to make a harvester, Skynet could easily make some aerial units that can cover a whole town with tear gas or some kind of chemical that knocks people out and grab the unconscious victims.
That little flying surveillance bot that took a picture of Kyle would be much better suited for tracking and tagging humans. The fact that the robot had to get within arm's reach of Kyle to take a picture of his face is just ridiculous considering the fact that my cousin's cell phone can get a clear picture of someone's face from a hundred feet away. They should be able to see people from miles away and they could easily tag humans for an artillery strike or an aerial assault. Give them a tranquilizer gun and they can neutralize fleeing humans.

Yea, I know but that was the general idea in the movie. That after it catches people it would call the air transport to carry them back. Why they did not just make the harvester also be able to fly beats me.
Yea it never seemed like a sneaky bot to me as well. Also they would make a lot of noise even if you did not see them you could hear them.
Yea those bots kind of remind me of the security bots from the game Bioshock except they had machine guns and would be way better then the terminator bots in the movie.
Depends on the type of photo analysis used by the terminators. Since they could use face image data for a wide number of things other then just it's a human. Also they hardly ever use Infrared or Thermal imaging which would make human tracking way easier.
