Oh awesome - I'll totally buy FROM WITHIN if for no other reason so that I can cap Thomas's scenes because the camera just loved him in that film.

I really wanted to see From Within, but there were no locations even close to me that were playing any of the ADHF films.

I saw The Broken today and, as expected, Lena was brilliant in it. Such a great actor. She is always amazing to watch, even in some of the more mediocre movies she's done. The Broken had great performances all around, actually. It was very well-cast and well-directed. The script, however, could have used some work. The set-up was good and the whole story was quite intriguing. What it lacked, though, was an underlying mythology to sort of explain or even hint at why what was happening was happening. And in the horror genre, I think you really need that. Overall I enjoyed the film and was never bored but I kept hoping for a decent payoff that didn't come.

Saw The Broken tonight. Oh man that movie had such potential but they failed to even explain why it was happening. I enjoyed it though, everything was done very well but the story. A lot of it made more sense once friends and I were talking about it afterwards - like the X-rays being on the wrong side of the body and such. It built things up more than it had a pay off.. but a very interesting idea and so close to being a good psychological piece.
Lena was great in it though.

I also saw "The Broken" last night and I agree with everything that Allergygal and Schmacky said. Lena was, as usual, fantastic.
The one thing I would like to add was I kinda felt that the director was relying too much on the music at the beginning of the film and a few other places in the film to create the mood instead a combination of maybe music and photography. The photography was pretty standard. The music was ok but I noticed it too much. I would have like more creepy visuals in addition to the creepy music.
Overall, I really enjoyed the film and was worth the trip to the mall to see it. Plus, it held my attention for the full 90 minutes, which is something to be said since I rarely maintain focus for that long.
I'd like to add that, in my opinion, this film is one of the better films that to have been shown at AFHF. Out of the 17 films I've seen so far this ranks in the top five.

Two new posters for Lena Headey's "The Broken" have been posted and made available. They look great (and so does Lena) in them. Take a look here.

By the way, that Spanish blog calls TSCC 'the fantastic series'! So, even though they've misspelled Lena's name, I do have a very positive image of that site ;D

The Broken has gone on general release today here in the UK. Um... the reviews haven't been brilliant. There's a pretty comprehensive round-up over on rottentomatoes.com. The print ad in the Guardian made me smile with a big ol' headline of "Starring Lena Headey of Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles". And it wasn't that horrible cracked head version which is always a bonus.

I find that, in general, reviews for horror films are less than brilliant. I think that "The Broken" can hold it's own. IMHO, it's not the greatest horror flick it does have some shortcomings but it's better than at least 90% of what's out there.

It has a very noir/Hitchcock feel to it that I think people probably weren't expecting.
I enjoyed it - I was left wondering what was going on clear until the end, they did a good job of constantly throwing curveballs at you so that you weren't 100% certain of the ending.

I was quite entertained. I usually gage much of the movies by how well I sit through it while in the theater. I don't sit still well and if a film can keep my attention without fidgeting then I'm a happy camper. I happy to report that I didn't fidget during the film so it's good by me.

I don't really like horrors, I usually spend them peeking through my sleeve cos I hate being made to jump (yeah, I know that's the point of watching them!) Still, Lena... I think I'll be heading to the cinema on Monday...

Good news is that it really isn't as much of a horror flick as it is a thriller and Lena is quite good in the picture. Worth the trip to the cinema. I just risked life and limb (really! It snowed horribly yesterday and today the pavements are like glass only more slippy) to go to the cinema and see it. Aside from the over-wrought scoring which was just too much for my fragile little nerves to take, I enjoyed it. Well, the parts I saw when I wasn't watching through my sweater sleeve. Biased I may be, but Lena was really really good. Plot wasn't the greatest - no clue why a doppelganger would want to take over the life of a radiographer but <shrugs> I think this was a style over substance effort and - ironically for a movie running to 88 minutes - it could've done with some snipping. I guess they blew the budget on the RTA and couldn't resist showing it again, and again and again... Possibly damning it with faint praise but it was definitely better than The Cave
