Just wanted to say that the (UK) R2 regular DVD release of S1 only has deleted scenes on it, some of which are already available on the Fox site. It's the R2 Blu-Ray version that has the extras. I think it's fair to say that there are quite a few UK SCC fans who are *extremely* disappointed with WB's decision on that, not just me. I'm having to buy the R1 regular DVD set as well in order to get the Extras. Although now I'm praying they are actually on there as it looks like the product details have changed on Amazon.com - can someone please confirm that the US regular DVD set still has the Extras on it (ie Commentaries, gag reel etc)?

This review of the US disk pretty much lays out what all of the extras are on our disks.

Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff - well, let's hope it's correct.

I've ordered the R1 DVD as well. Even including postage its cheaper than the extraless R2 DVD.
I read on another board that its because of the censors we don't get the extras. In the UK everything on the the DVD including commentaries and easter eggs have to be rated by the BBFC. The BBFC charge per minute or second for doing this so the UK distributors save money by not including the extras. In America the extras don't have to be rated.

That sounds like the typical bureaucratic UK nonsense. Gah. Although I note that at £22 or $44 for the regular set, and £40 or $80 for the Blu-Ray, WB are making some profit on that. Hmm. It's just annoying, whoever's fault it is.

Prices are less here in the US- those are suggested retail prices. First season is $18.99 on Amazon for regular DVDs and Blu-Ray is only $27.95. You can click on the links in the thread above to order No sales tax and free shipping on Blu-Ray!

$18.99?
I think I paid $29.99 for mine from Amazon.ca. Irritating.
Blue-Ray is awesome Amelie but at the moment, I wanted a DVD I could play in my laptop as well as on the tube.

I'm waiting on the DVD release slowly but surely. Hitting up Best Buy for mine.

My laptop is not Blue Ray either.... But just to see the special effects in high - res.... I think it will be totally worth it. Or not... maybe I won't find them as beautiful!! LOL Yeah it's the same price for me in Canada as well.... With the exchange rate, seems us loonies are the ones being robbed!!

Definitely something weird there. I thought I checked the US price before I ordered, as well. Oh, well. I don't mind (too much) sending Amazon/WB an extra $10 for TV I like.
For review purposes, I may see if the local video store gets TSCC in Blu-Ray and rent it as a comparison.
Meanwhile, I have my fingers crossed that the next generation of macs with have writeable blu-ray capable disk drives.

I'm debating on getting a PS3 just to have the Blu-Ray player built into it.
The rental stores in my area have yet to get Blu-Ray discs as of yet.

If you pre-order with Amazon- you will only be charged the LOWEST price for your set when it ships. If it is less now than when you ordered- you will be billed at the lower price. All Amazon sites do this - so no worries! It is why I pimp Amazon so merciliessly
