I thought this would be interesting and fun.
If you had to pick someone NOT named James Cameron to make a Terminator film (prequel, sequel, or remake, etc.) Who would you want as your writer, producer, director, and three to four main cast stars (cast cannot be anyone already used in a Terminator film)? Yes, I'm making this hard and very thoughtful on all of you, haha.
For me, my choice of film would take place 5 years after T2, but replace T3 in the timeline (that means Sarah is still alive).
Now, here's my choice for writer, producer, and director:
Writer: Quention Tarantino.
Producer: Robert Rodriguez.
Director: Rob Zombie.
Now, my four main cast choices:
SARAH CONNOR: Rhona Mitra.
JOHN CONNOR: Thomas Dekker.
"Good" TERMINATOR: Edward Norton.
"Evil" TERMINATOR: Sean Bean.
The film would be a HARD R rating and the film would have a gritty feel to it much like the movie "Grindhouse."

Though I don't think T3 needs replaced in any way, shape or form. Here is my recipe for T3. Terminator 3: Final RetributionWritten By: Myself Directed by: John Woo Sarah Connor: Leslie Hamiltion-Guerin Younger John Connor: Josh Hartnett (God damned Underrated). Older John Connor: Clive Owen (Only because they're using my first choice in T: Salvation). Good Terminator: Jason Statham Bad Terminators: Chow Yun Fat Mira Sorvino Travis Gant (AKA the crazy ex Green Beret): Steve Buscemi And many many more. Suffice it to say it would be Rated R. And as hard as any of the other Terminator films I don't think a T film needs to be Hard R though. Then it almost becomes a parody of itself.

I decided to go back and change two of my choices, haha.
After seeing how awesome Thomas Dekker has captured the "badass" essence of John Connor, I decided to stick with him as the teen - pre adult John Connor.
Also, I decided to use an even more badass femake in Rhona Mitra. For those of you that don't know her, watch the movie "Doomsday" and try and tell me she would not make the perfect Sarah Connor.

With the writer, producer, and director I've chosen, they could pull of that rating better than anyone else in the industry. I would have it be bloody as hell, almost like Rambo 4 meets Planet Terror. I wouldn't do it for the shock value, I'd do it show the true brutality of a terminator. I'd have the film be so dark and grainy. However, while all of these new things would be incorporated, I'd make sure it stuck strictly to James Cameron's mythology.
