It was suggested to make a thread for this so I'll start it up because I noticed something while watching House...
They advertised 24, AI, Hell's Kitchen, Lie to Me, Bones
They advertised almost everything for the week but TSCC and Dollhouse (I didn't see Fringe either). Now I would think since this used to be Sarah Connor's timeslot that they would have commercials about how they've moved but.. well, I guess that's not an important issue...
hmmm... it's a wonder we lost a million or so viewers...

I don't think that's due to Fox not trying to promote this show, though. I think they put all of their eggs in a basket late-2007/early-2008 and then fall 2008. I think within the past 5 months they've come to grips with the fact that they can longer continue to do these ads for TSCC. I'm not saying it's right, not by any means. But I think people should give them a break and hopefully come to grips with the fact that Fox can't keep promoting a show that has continued to lose million of viewers as it went on, even when they promoted the hell out of it.
I don't wanna keep having this same discussion, though. I do see extremely valid points in your's, Erika's, Katie's, and Allergy's posts. I think all of you have every right to atlest feel somewhat disappointed in Fox, but I don't think you can pin the majority of the blame on them. The blame needs to go towards everyone.

I'm not trying to imply all the blame should be on FOX. I simply see a problem with their advertising. It does seem like common sense that if you moved a show's night that you should advertise during it's previous timeslot to let viewers know where the show has gone. And plus of course I think they created the wrong type of ad campaign anyhow. Edit: I feel like creating a fan made ad campaign video. But I'm horrible with words.. anyone got any cool "announcement guy voice" lines that would be good in a commercial? If you could advertise this show, how would you do it? What would you say in it?

I've seen the Dollhouse and TSCC ad's a couple of times on Fox this week. Sunday is one night that comes to mind.
What I have noticed is a lack of other kinds of advertising. In the Fall we had those video billboards all over the place in Los Angeles for a couple of weeks, this time nothing. Shows like Fringe and House had the video billboards and regular billboards all around Hollywood for months instead of a week or two.
This is where I think Fox has failed in their advertising. They could have bought standard billboard space in a high traffic area and left the ad up through the Holidays like they did with Fringe.
The only other place I've seen advertising is through the comic book stores with TSCC/Dollhouse bags. I don't think this is reaching out to new viewers much. I would guess that the folks who spend time at the comic book store would already be watching.

Actually, not airing ads for the new timeslot in the old timeslot is pretty dumb, imo.
And it goes back to what I've said in the other thread about FOX's failure to consider that the audience for TSCC/DOLLHOUSE is wider than nerdcore males 18-34. My TSCC-watching buds do not go to comicbook stores (true, I do but they've already got me).

Ok this is weird - new Dollhouse/TSCC ad is up on Spoiler TV and at the end they call Dollhouse a new "hit." Either Fox is happy w/ the numbers or they got their hands on some other data that is showing that more people watched than just what the Nielsens showed.

Or they're just calling it a hit like they do with every new show.

They showed the full and a slightly truncated version of that ad during Idol tonight - once towards the middle of the first hour and then towards the end of the second hour - right before the 2 most anticipated people were to come on. Each ad had HUGE lettering on them that said FOX FRIDAYS and they said Friday several times. Here's hoping they show it again during the results show tomorrow. Only problem, the phone lines weren't jammed for calling in, I hope that people were watching Idol now that voting has started so that they could actually SEE the ads (And yes, I'm a total Idol geek...deal with it - scary thing - I sat down and accurately wrote out the phone numbers to call in on...I obviously called in WAY too much last season.)

That's certainly encouraging - glad to know that my rewatching eps on my DirecTV DVR helped to give it a top spot in DirecTV advertising
