I was browsing around the internets today, thinking "hmm... I wonder if we're ever going to hear about a Blu-Ray release of T2: Special Edition?" I never bought T2 on Blu-Ray because the disc that they put out sucked pretty bad (zilch in special features, poor video quality, and only the original cut of the film). Well, my prayers have been answered, as I found out that in February, Lionsgate announced a Terminator fan's fantasy come true:
Terminator 2: Skynet Edition
* Multiple THX-certified high-definition versions of the film
* All-new English 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Lossless
* Picture-in-picture of behind the scenes video, text commentaries and multimedia galleries
* Storyboard-script mode – view storyboards and read the script while watching the film
* Interactive quizzes and games
* BD-Live enabled, featuring games, extra content and more for Internet-connected players
* Audio commentary with 26 cast and crew members
* Audio commentary with director James Cameron and co-writer William Wisher
* Enhanced for D-Box Motion Control Systems
* Includes THX Optimizer
For everyone who was disappointed by the initial T2 Blu-Ray release, this version promises to be a truly showcase-worthy disc. And if for some reason that's not enough, and you consider your wallet recession-proof, you can shell out $175 for the ultimate Terminator fangasm: the Limited Edition T2 Complete Collector's Set
This crazy set includes Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition (DVD), Terminator 2: Extreme Edition (DVD), Termiantor 2: Skynet Edition (Blu-Ray), and a full scale replica of the T-800 endoskull, complete with light up eyes.
Terminator 2: Skynet Edition goes on sale May 19, 2009 for $29.99, alongside the Limited Edition Collector's Set for $174.99. For more details and a promotional trailer, check out IGN's full article below.
