Whats the big deal with Pizza Hut doing a T4 Salvation promo? T4 isn't the first, nor will be the last movie to do a joint promotion for a food chain like Pizza Hut. Theres McDonalds, Burger King, KFC you name it. Its generally good cross-promotional advertising for business. Promoting movies like T4 also helps attracts more buisiness. I second about the ratings being a non issue here. Be it PG-13 or R. Much like Rossbond said, sometimes an R rating is worse, as some directors see it as a chance to fill some spots with gratuitous nudity and sex scenes. If McG were heavily promoting T4 teaser scenes with Christian Bale going down on some chick, then I'd be worried about the entire movie's production value and quality. Movies like Blackhawk Down I have trouble stomaching as the CG & FX is a little too good too much, giving up close visual gory detail of every other limb that's been blown off some soldier. Using an R rating for that seriously detracted from showcasing what the movie was about - which was one Blackhawk crew and patrol getting shot down and cornered in from all sides, with a rescue unit mounted & sent in, which escalated into a full blown brutal firefight. From what I see in the trailers, T4 looks to be pretty promising to live up and continue the Terminator franchise. If the prequel book by Timothy Zahn is any indicator, T4's going to do just fine if not deliver better than ever. The big deal is that this movie has become nothing more than a potential cash cow to cash in on a storied franchise. Subway atleast had the guts to endore an R rated movie in T2, but part of that was due to Cameron being a bankable director, something McG has never been. Plus, what does it tell you that they have Halcyon demaning a PG-13 rating? This is all to go hand in hand with all the endorsements they have lined up. Dude, listing asinine stuff like "Bale going down on a chick" just to warrant an R rating is ridiculous. You obviously didn't read any of my posts in this thread or you flat out missed the point. Terminator has always been an R rated world due to its context and themes. You sit there and list "Black Hawk Down" but disregard a movie like "Saving Private Ryan." You can still have an R rated movie without it being trashy... James Cameron showcased this with his first two films. How many times am I gonna have to point this out (let me put it in the simplest terms): PG-13 ACTION MOVIES SCALE BACK ON THE VIOLENCE AND ONLY ALLOW YOU TO ACKNOWLEDGE A BODY COUNT. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU CLINCH TO YOUR SEAT AND MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE WATCHING SOMETHING TERRIFYING, BUT THOUGHT PROVOKING AND SMART ALL AT THE SAME TIME. For the one millionth time... there should be nothing PG-13 about a post-apocalyptic future war with emotionless machines. The fact that all of you endorse this makes me want to throw up. It's nothing personal against you guys, but you're definitely drinking the cool-aid and accepting mediocrity as excellence. This isn't Darren Aronofsky, Martin Scorsese, or Christopher Nolan shooting this film... it's freakin' McG and the writers from "Catwoman." You just don't get it.

Chill dude! The movie isn't even out yet. We could all be bickering and arguing over nothing.
And sure as heck we'll be hitting right back here soon as we're out of the theater.
I'm just sayin, give the film a chance, wait til its out, go see it, then claim "holy [expletive deleted] !!!" because you loved or hated it for whatever reasons present within the film.

Ross... you can keep posting that crap, but this is PG-13.
Variety even reported it about a week ago, but they're probably not a reliable source, right? LOL.

I couldn't find Variety's link where they stated it. But as soon as I do, I will post it. I strictly remember them saying that PH couldn't post that rating without the MPAA confirming it, though. Here's an old article, though... www.variety.com/article/VR1117985086.html?categoryid=13&cs= 1 'Terminator' guns for kid-friendly rating Halcyon aims to deliver PG-13 movie By ANNE THOMPSON The "Terminator" will indeed be back -- but this time with a more kid-friendly rating. As production starts today on "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," the next installment in the action franchise, producers at the Halcyon Co. say they aim to deliver a PG-13 movie to Warner Bros. for release on May 22, 2009. The "Terminator" series is one of the highest-grossing R-rated franchises of all time, with the first three films having grossed more than $1.03 billion worldwide. But Halcyon producers thought it was time to broaden the upcoming fourth film's audience base, and they believe the PG-13 won't compromise the series' gritty vision. "The ratings have changed," said Halcyon co-founder and co-CEO Victor Kubicek, a broker-turned-writer-producer. "The PG-13 has increased in intensity." Move follows last year's "Die Hard" film, "Live Free or Die Hard," which went out with a PG-13 after three prior R-rated installments. That pic went on to gross $382.1 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing in the series. A family-friendly rating opens many doors, including a "Terminator Salvation" licensing deal for action figures with Playmates Toys. "Our merchandising program will be the largest to date for 'The Terminator,' " said Halcyon co-founder and co-CEO Derek Anderson, ex-owner of ad agency In the Mix, who adds that he had not discussed the possibility of an R-rating with Warners. "We won't force it. We are carrying on in the tradition of the mythology, with an exciting approach to the action. If we can make a compelling film to reach the widest audience, why wouldn't we do it?" Halcyon has already launched Halcyon Games to create a "Terminator" game for release at the same time as the movie. "The first three games were all bad," Anderson said. "The core fans are screaming for something fresh; they won't be just playing the movie." Anderson and Kubicek founded the Halcyon Co. in 2006 with funding from Wall Street hedge funds and private investors. They scooped up rights to the "Terminator" franchise from Carolco's Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar for an undisclosed sum as that company was closing down in May 2007. Warners acquired rights to domestic theatrical and TV distribution on "Terminator: Salvation," while Sony obtained international distrib rights, less some territories. Halcyon brought in Moritz Borman to exec produce, Jeffrey Silver to produce and hired "Terminator 3" scripters John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris to script. Paul Haggis did a polish. McG directs. Set in post-apocalyptic 2029, an adult John Connor, played by Christian Bale, leads the war to save humanity from the killing machines. Signing Bale, who also stars in the current "Batman" series, was a huge coup. Sam Worthington, who fronts franchise creator James Cameron's upcoming "Avatar," also stars. The Terminator role is still under wraps; speculation centers on Josh Brolin. Isn't it kind of funny how this is all shaping up to be true? LOL.

Okay this article is practically old as the hills.
An R-rated film can have childrens toys.
See...oh yeah T2.
Look whatever happens happens.
As of now there is No official rating.
The way to rate a film is not by his rating.
It's by how good it is as a film...simple as that.

Tell that to RoboCop 3, AVP, and Live Free or Die Hard. LOL.

This is pretty heated, but I'll agree with HC that T2 would never be PG-13, even today. The detail on the stabbing and the Judgment Day dream are enough to make it R.
Just because Pizza Hut is endorsing the film, doesn't mean it's going to be PG13. Matrix 2 and 3 had how much publicity and endorsements? Halo 3 was endorsed by Mountain Dew and McDonalds, and it was rated M (pretty much the R for video games). These partnerships are already done well in advance.
Even if the film is PG-13, so what? You're going to get the R or unrated version on DVD anyway, and the more ticket the movie sells, the bigger chance for another movie, which is what we all want assuming Salvation is as good as it seems.
T3 could have been rated PG-13, had they removed a few things, that movie is borerline PG13, they only use "frak" twice, which I believe is the limit for PG-13.
T1 might even pass as PG-13 these days, the rating didn't exist back when it was released. I mean, take away a few "fraks" and Arnold cutting out his eye, what is there that's really so "R". Would the film really be any worse? No, I don't think so. I first saw T1 on TV, as a TV-14 edit, I was still drawn into the film, and while I enjoy the R rated version more, I don't think the TV-14 version was any worse or watered down. The changes as best I can recall were -No blood when Arnold ripped the Bill Paxton's heart out. -removale of fraks. -Sarah Connor 1 was shot only once. -Ginger went own with the shot to her back. -No boob in the sex scene. -Eye surgery removed. -"frak you asshole" scene removed at the hotel.

Getting a so called "R or Unrated" version on DVD still isn't going to cut it. They did the same thing with Live Free or Die Hard and that movie still sucked. The chances of this movie being "great" are extremely slim... and the fact that all three films in this trilogy are supposed to be PG-13 is a slap in the face to real fans of this franchise. But hey, as I said before... if you all want to accept medicority as excellence, be my guest. But you're just lending a hand in the demise of great R rated franchises. Oh, and I agree about Terminator 3. That movie IS PG-13 in my eyes... all Moscow did was throw in a gore scene and a couple F-bombs to get an R rating. He initialy shot a PG-13 movie... so it still sucked either way. That movie might be one of the worst sequels ever to grace the silverscreen.
Oh, and as for The Terminator being PG-13. LOL. Fat chance. If you remove any of the intensity of that film (much like I said with T2), it no longer becomes the masterpiece that it is today. Seriously man.
