I'm trying to gear up for Video capture using my DVR boxes so I can save an edit TSCC episodes on my computer.
I picked up a BlackMagic Intensity Pro card (HDMI and component video) and installed it on my PC. My early experiments in using the included utility enable me to capture video direct to my comp, but with no audio.
I think I am going to pick up an actual video editing program to do capture as well as editing. What are you guys using to capture video of the series?
Thanks!

Any ideas what a good Video Editing program is?
Was looking at Sony Vegas Pro 8, figured it might handle any video I take myself in addition to capture material in 1920x1080 from a DVR box or the like..

Wow, no one's responded to you here. that's sad. Didn't see ya. So did you end up getting Sony Vegas? I use CS3 Adobe Premiere, I've never used Sony Vegas or any other editing program besides Adobe and Avid.

It doesn't matter either way, whether there were video peeps here or not, I'm sure Ronnie got the answer elsewhere before too much time went by.
But to actually answer the question in case some other person has it.
I don't actually video capture the footage, as in digitizing it. I download the episodes and import them into the program I use. Or, for S2 now I'm going to be recording the episodes directly to my computer and then transferring them and importing them into my program.
If you don't do either of those two and you want to get it from your DVR.. hmm.. I would guess hooking your DVR up to your video camera and recording it and then digitizing it through your program into the computer. That seems like a lot of work though.
I think one of the mods, supernatural I think, does it that way. They would probably know more about that process that way then.

If you weren't here in March then your speculation is pretty pointless right? It doesn't matter either way. Schmacky, you really need to stop with that. I was just giving an educated guess. There is no reason for you to say my post was pointless... especially with following it up with a contradicting statement. Anyway, hopefully Ronnie receives or received the help he was asking for.

Mod Note - Everyone just chill and get back to topic.
Please respect each other equally. If you want to help each other that's fine, but there's no reason to go up against one another in comments. It's fine to have different opinions, but there's no reason to trade jabs back and forth. Be respectful to one another and focus on the thread topic.

Understood Twilight. But oh, wanted to just clear something up. I think Depart thought I said his post was pointless. I didn't, just his speculation. Big difference. It wasn't a jab or anything. So, Depart if you thought I was jabbing your post, I wasn't. I think you misunderstood.
And on topic, if one is going to be recording a lot of things from a DVR/TV, it might be beneficial to just get a TV tuner card which would go into your computer as an empty PCI slot. Or one that attaches via USB. Whatever way you go, make sure it is an ATSC tuner (digital) since NTSC will be obsolete in 2009.
