The company that paid for everything was the Desert HVAC or whatever's "parent company" - the pastor at the funeral where Mrs. Winston freaks out thanks them for the donation.
I thought it was pretty obvious that the "parent company" was another of Weaver's shell corporations. Or do you mean "asked more questions" in terms of following up on who owned that company? I wonder if John will spend some quality time with Google when they get home.
Also "parent company" - lol - after all, Weaver's playing mommy to Skynet right?

Weaver was nicely creepy. With her insistence that Zoe's dad got away (of course she knows!) to repeating Ellison's story to Savannah. What I really liked was Savannah's 'your lap is cold.' Weaver was very creepy. I felt so bad for Savannah in that scene.

Weaver and Savannah raise an interesting question, doesn't it - about the difference between duty and love?

What I really liked was Savannah's 'your lap is cold.' OMG yes. That was hilarious. And I also agree with all your other comments: ELlison was dull, Winston's wife giving Sarah the key to the storage shed was ridiculous and YAY for team Connor family dynamic and all actually working together. More of that please. MUCH more. The HK saw JOHN. There better be terminators next episode!!! They know where he is now. Watching Sarah walk around I was thinking that they need to get her out of black jeans and into a skirt! The HK thing isn't a cylon ship. We have no indication that it's some intelligent robot transmitting info to anyone. It's possible it's got a a video device, but even so, we dont' know if that would mean it's feeding live images to Catherine or it's recording video that Zoe's father will look at later. So I wouldn't necessarily be expecting some kind of immediate Skynet reaction to a light from an HK prototype shining down on the Connors. Also, Sarah Connor doesn't wear skirts. You can't exactly do running and fighting and climbing in windows and stuff with skirts on. Things I disliked. Sarah walking down the creepy corridor, only to reveal it was a underground tunnel to another house. Wow, never seen that before in a book or movie. I thought it was going to lead to some mind-blowing reveal. Nope.. Huge letdown. Yeah that corridor was awfully big just to be going from one house to a garage. I was expecting it to lead to the coltan plant (thinking it was safe from the explosion underground). Nice tension that went nowhere really. The company that paid for everything was the Desert HVAC or whatever's "parent company" - the pastor at the funeral where Mrs. Winston freaks out thanks them for the donation. I thought it was pretty obvious that the "parent company" was another of Weaver's shell corporations. Also "parent company" - lol - after all, Weaver's playing mommy to Skynet right? I'm sure I've got the spelling wrong, but the parent company was called The Caleba Group.

The existence of a prototype HK marks a drastic change in the future time line. This may need it's own thread for deeper discussion.
Briefly... Weaver is assembling post judgment day technology in 2008. Is this a cache to use after J-day? Or could this Technology be used to enslave humanity before J-day, i.e. Weaver captures a world that hasn't been destroyed.
Either way, the game is changing fast. Once the prototypes are working it won't take long to setup production on a large scale. Weaver has control of a power plant to run the factories "off the grid". There's no telling what other resources she has.

Yeah, they need to go find that engineer that built the bank vault and get him to build them another time machine so Sarah can go back to 2007 and kick Derek's ass before he kills Andy Goode instead of after

Good episode. Not Great. It was a little slow at the beginning and then it picked up. However, even with the slow pacing there was a lot of good.. little stuff in there. I totally enjoy all the little stuff.
Savannah saying Weaver's lap was cold. So sad. So creepy. Scary really.
John showing some leadership qualities that we know he has in the future. The guy stopped the car, no one did anything and John decided to act and moved forward. In the basement, nothing was really happening and then John decided to act and moved things forward. Little flashes of his future self, it was great.
Sarah and Derek's convo about Kyle. I really liked that Sarah said "maybe you should too" or something. She finally shoved something back in his face this season. Last season they would verbally spar a bit. The first half of the season Derek would say something and Sarah would just take it. So, I liked that she got in there too and hopefully they'll continue that weird relationship of Sarah and Derek's that can't truly be described.
I love the Connor Crew. I really do. When they're together, they're just awesome. All four of them. When Mrs. Winston asked Sarah what her deal was and then she got into the truck and they all drove off... all four of them in that big kick ass truck.. they look so cool and badass. That family is awesome.
Some folks didn't like the big corridor that lead to nothing. I didn't like it but I didn't not like it either. The music was cool and creepy and was totally making you think it was going somewhere but yet again.. they fake ya out. And then Sarah's telling Derek how she's at some house and it's a long story and then knock knock.. she sees him right outside. I got a little chuckle outta that.
Like others have said, the Connors and crew actually working together and talking to one another. Golden. Those four are the foundation of this show and it's great to see each one of them add something to what's happening. They can bicker and fight and not like each other, but as long as they work together and communicate.. you just can't go wrong.
Of course I'm totally intrigued by the HK and everything and even though we all knew the HK was real, it was still cool to have it confirmed.
I'm sure there's other stuff I liked about this ep, but I need to see it again.

I really liked this episode- some key points that tickled my fancy:
Walsh- the guy snooping around for Weaver "I was with the Baltimore PD for 23 years" SHOUT out to the best cop show of all time- which Max Perlich was part of HOMICIDE LIFE ON THE STREETS.
Erika and I had to look him up but Adam Wylie who played the grumpy Henry just seemed so familiar---- well there was a reason for that. He was one of the key people at the Ben 10 panel at Comic Con that we all sat through to hold our seats for the TSCC panel back in July.
Casting aside- I liked the episode. The whole team working together to gather info. John not sure if his mom was on target but Derek ready to believe that Sarah is on to something, Cameron the observer and Sarah working on trying to pull it all together without falling apart.
I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoyed the teamwork side of things.
Catherine Weaver is an enigma to me. Do we have two sets of metal going against each other? What is going on? She was looking for the guy who took the drone and drove off with it in the big rig. WHo is he working for? Definite WTF moment.....
The scenes with the daughter intrigue me. She seems to have her own agenda. From the get go we saw her talking about admiring a computer that can break the rules. What does this mean?
Lots of robot action tonight- took me some time to log in because I got caught up in Dollhouse tonight- see my comments in the DH thread , and BSG- well BSG has only 4 episodes left and the big huge ending for it we have been spoiled will be EPIC. Ah- I LOVE FRIDAY NIGHTS!

Every time I saw Henry I kept half-expecting Paris Geller to show up just to torment him further after all those times on Gilmore Girls at Chilton. She was always Terminator like in her ability to completely destroy him seemingly without effort. Cameron, for her part, seemed ready to take the charge, even rendering him incapable of driving with just a few words. Sometimes, there is just no escape.

Except for the scenes at the end, I found the ep sort of meh...though it was somehow able to keep from being boring. (Doesn't make it easy to write a blog, let me tell ya.)
I just wish that with all the questions they were asking we'd have gotten the answer to the single most critical question of all: How, exactly, did the cows die? It's going to be bugging me.

10 minutes of good. 30 minutes of filler.
They spent more time hanging around a funeral than doing anything really interesting... to wind up with: yes, we already knew they were building HK's.
Just like the bunker that just led to the other house. All lead up to ... no payoff.
Catherine/Savannah/Ellison was all good, and interesting, but they went nowhere with it... and it was the most IMHO intriguing part of the episode!! The funeral... bleh!
Yes, I liked how there were only two plots this time, but if all they were going to do is hang around with mopey people (and they weren't even dressed to go to a funeral! way to blend in!!) instead of following up on Savannah or Catherine or John Henry or doing something cool with Cameron and John then they missed another opportunity to move that plot along... the one everyone is pretty much interested in.
Derek's "fake wake" line was funny and it was good to see him start to get back into action, but again they spend FAR too much time with a durge like pall over the episode.
The last 10 minutes or so started to pick up.
But then they ended with the exact same twist as Ep. 13! Yeah, we already KNEW it was a hunter killer! And they just stood there gaping at it rather than running like hell for cover.
They could have been killed if it was armed and yet they stood rock still and stared at it as if they've NEVER seen an HK before. Oooh! Shiny! Do these guys want to die, have a death wish or something?
And Cameron and even Jameron was again pretty much side lined. I feel sorry for Summer and even BAG because like Dekker they must stand around A LOT!
John was less of a prick... that's a step in the right direction! And then Riley's back to muck things up again!
Sometimes I wonder... do the writers actually want this show to succeed?
They should have been writing the Back 9 as if their lives and jobs depended on it... and they do. But... we can't have ANY more slowly plodding story advancements as if our feet were stuck in molasses. There are only 7 episodes left!!!
More action, more Cameron, more John, more Jameron, more edge of your seat thrills... as the ads tried to make us believe.
Was it all Fox's fault? They had a big hand in mucking up the ads (or lack thereof), the story, etc. and yet for all that the writers seem to have lost sight of the show themselves, and what they're trying to accomplish and SAY.
Each episode can't just be about "neato" concepts and throw away side characters eating up more time monologuing than the main cast.
They needed to grab new audience members, but now they're alienating the die hards who keep coming back for more.
I'm really worried about the ratings for this episode, even if it had its moments. It had no hooks to get MORE viewers, which is what they so desperately need.
We can't have more of the same and keep saying "thank you."
Is this show "Terminator"... or is it "Funerals R Us?"

It was interesting, to me. I love watching these characters do almost anything. But... this was a slow episode that amounted to very little. This show desperately needs to get some excitement going to please the masses. Having these slow episodes is just the wrong decision at this stage in the show. And I'm afraid for the show. Also... attention to detail MATTERS! Sarah was injured and dying. Why is she walking around like nothing happened?! These things keep nagging me. The HK saw JOHN. There better be terminators next episode!!! They know where he is now. 1) The HK wasn't controlled by Skynet. It was controlled by some dude who stole it, it looks like. 2) How would it even know John is John? 3) I don't think it even has any kind of intelligence. Just flies where it's supposed to.

Lying or not, that mother and daughter were afraid to give up information. I didn't see scaring them more as a great moment of leadership. Hard-ass John doesn't ever work for me. Though it may explain why he has no friends in the future And yeah, you seriously can't ever go wrong with the Connors working together. And they just stood there gaping at it rather than running like hell for cover. They could have been killed if it was armed and yet they stood rock still and stared at it as if they've NEVER seen an HK before. Oooh! Shiny! Do these guys want to die, have a death wish or something? Sarah's already seen the HK and it didn't appear to have any guns and didn't harm her (and Derek, John and Cameron know that). So I wouldn't call it a death wish that they stood there gawking. No. now they're alienating the die hards who keep coming back for more. Not this die hard!

Except for the scenes at the end, I found the ep sort of meh...though it was somehow able to keep from being boring. (Doesn't make it easy to write a blog, let me tell ya.) Oh, I would have to disagree there At the very beginning, when John was sitting on the bench talking to Zoe, she asked John "Am I crazy or is that girl starring at us?" John glances to the side, swallows hard as he manages a nervous 'I can't believe Cam's doing that' toned "Thats... my... Sister..." (or fairly close to the actual line). I found some situational humor there, with Cam putting John on the spot like that. Maybe it was for that 'most advanced killing machine in the world and doing laundry' remark John quipped way back in 2x11 "Self Made Man" John did a good show of taking charge in the minivan when Cameron blundered up with blurting out Zoe not loving Henry as much or in the way Henry loves Zoe, which Henry then slammed on the breaks in the funeral procession. John saw the police cycle coming up, got out of the van, unbuckled and shoved Henry in the passenger seat and took the wheel. While Cam screwed up there, John rescued the situation from drawing additional unwanted attention. Later during the funeral and at the Wake at Zoe and her mother's place, John began piecing more of Zoe's mannerisms together. Agreeing with Cameron and adding to it "Yeah, she's not doing alot of things". At the Wake, John and Cameron notice the mother and Daughter not even looking sad, or looking at their loved one's portrait on the easel. While the Connors are working well together, its still pretty easy to see Derek's continuing disdain for Cameron, when she asked Derek (making a pretty good observation and deduction of clues) if Derek had a photograph of Kyle, wouldn't he look at it? Derek didn't really want to answer. John nicely took an authoritative note there to repeat Cameron's question. While Derek first brushed it off, he had to eat his words when he looked back himself. Sarah was pretty good herself, talking to one of the other widows, which happened to be the widow of the man she had the run-in at the barn, and had killed. That must've been a tough moment there in the car for Sarah as the widow pulled out her cellphone and played back the last minutes of a recording when he accidentally (or intentionally?) called his wife's phone. I'm not sure if the scene with Derek giving Mr.Walsh a lift to the graveyard - Derek's reply was just the wrong reply or deliberate when Mr. Walsh asked Derek what he would do, and Derek said "I'd do nothing." Which resulted in Mr.Walsh exiting the vehicle. A minor continuity glitch though - both Derek and Walsh could be seen arriving at the graveyard at the same time walking out from the trees / shrubs. With only a rough 5-7ft gap in pacing. I had gotten the impression there was that stretch of highway or interstate between the town and the graveyard. Maybe it was intentional to give Mr.Walsh the cold shoulder, the purpose being to find out what the guy's game was, seeming out of place as the Connors were at the funeral attending. Mr.Walsh was left to his own devices after that. Theres another good clue or two - the whole house basement, and the wall of video monitors: First - While Cameron skillfully finds a recording of Zoe's Father and the man Sarah killed, killing Zoe's former boyfriend Mike, who mysteriously disappeared like those dead cows at the slew. Cat was out of the bag about her father. So much for daddy dearest there. Secondly - Kyle made a very good observation and comment about the setup of that place. His words approximately being the video surveillance system of the entire town at that console: Exact setup resembling a Skynet work camp. Humans using Machines to watch Human beings watched by Machines. Considering ZeiraCorp being the parent company with a front 'cover company' for owning the false Valley Heating and Cooling business that was the barn's facade, and the employees all from the one town with a Skynet styled video town surveillance system reminiscent of 1984's 'Big Brother'. I pretty much think that seals the deal between Weaver, John Henry's development, and the HK craft at the barn. I wonder how many other towns are sprinkled throughout with that same setup. I wouldn't doubt ZieraCorp has other 'barn' style facilities developing other Skynet technologies besides HK's. In addition, the flying HK - it certainly wasn't a remote controlled puppet, but a self autonomous AI. It was probably John's good luck heading back to that spot with the small slew at night when the pre-arranged time for the HK to rendevous with it's 'owner' - Zoe's dad. On a side note, Zoe's dad reminded me alot of Brent Spinnner in appearance (Aka ST:TNG's Data) , minus the lab coat from Independence Day. The long hair and beard usually denoting a scientist more self absorbed in his work than keeping up appearances. I'll hedge a bet he was one of the actual hands on people who developed the Proto-HK into its functional design. An interesting touch was it probably scanned the Connors, got their faces recorded. It also seemed to be based on facial recognition, as it also scanned Zoe's father before complying and parking itself in the trailer, folding up its wing assembly. A new and good detail about Weaver was shed by Savannah, more insight into her separation / alienation from Weaver. Weaver doesn't read stories to Savannah like her father did. Implying for all the legwork Weaver did, she didn't do all her homework in observing Mr.Weaver. Also - big detail given here - Savannah says that Weaver's lap is always cold.. Looks like T1000's can't generate thermal heat even as a by-product of natural bleed-off from internal components. True, she's liquid metal, but all humans have a natural body warmth. We can assume T888's are superior in that capacity to generate or produce some natural body warmth given Vic's wife wasn't put-off by a crucial detail like that. Nice give-away there! True, this was a slower episode, but I thought the pacing and scene caption inserts were good, as I had to watch the episode twice (Fox Rochester than later on Fox Spokane) to catch all the smaller details and clues. John did make some good leadership initiative calls there, and he's becoming good at reading people. If only he could have that clarity of attention when it came to Riley.

I hate to bring this up, but the diehards ARE dropping out. The Back 9 should have been BRILLIANTLY conceived... with snap, crackle, and pop. No pop this time, just fizzle.
