The overall ratings for Season 2, and the ratings for the first three episodes of the back 9, especially, have been in decline. Which has led to rumours and speculation that the show may not return for a third season.
I firmly believe, as do others, that this is no fault of the writers, or of Josh Friedman. I do believe that FOX is at least partially to blame for the decline in ratings. FOX, and FOX alone, made the decision to split Season 2 into halves; producing the first 13, and then only later producing the back 9. This caused a hiatus of over two months, which would turn off a lot of casual viewers who'd likely lose interest.
The move to Friday evenings as well, has affected ratings. I believe more people are watching the show than the antiquainted Nielsen ratings would have us believe. People tend to go out on friday nights; they wont sacrifice their night out to watch TV; even something as kick ass as TSCC. I think the numbers for DVR ratings would have gone up, as people record it and watch later (likely on saturday mornings, while nursing hangovers, lol) FOX also did not do a very good job of advertising the back 9 coming; not enough exposure, and the dual commercial with Dollhouse was misleading.
Some people may say Josh should have opened the back 9 with more action, or that the 3 latest episodes were too slowly paced, but there wouldn't have been that problem if FOX had just allowed the full 22 episodes straight away in the first place.
Anyway, rant over, and now to the more useful part of this post. We need to show FOX and Warner Bros that TSCC is doing well and still popular, despite the decline in ratings. Write to both FOX and Warner Bros. Tell them you love the show. Tell them WHY you love the show. (leave out what you don't like, we can discuss that in the forums) Tell them about the massive potential the show has - so far its only at the tip of the iceberg. Cancelling now would be a mistake, as, treated properly, this show could be a goldmine for FOX.

I also created a petition I'd like people to sign, showing our support for the show and requesting FOX gives the show a chance to flourish. It only takes a minute to sign, and I respectfully ask that everyone who reads this takes a moment to sign it. It costs nothing but a minute of your time, and combined with writing emails to FOX and WB, and any other strategies people can think of, could help us. Massive fan response helped get the back 9 produced, and Warner Bros were very grateful. It was done before; it can be done again.
www.gopetition.com/petitions/the-sarah-connor-chronicles.html please take just a minute to sign it. And tell your friends; anyone who watches the show.
The future is not set; there's no fate but what WE make!
