Discuss it here and how you think it may or may not come into play?

I doubt that we'll ever see Skynet in the show. It's the same thing with future John. They're very important to the whole mythology of the show since their machinations drive the story but they're not meant to be seen. It's going to be very hard to portray them on the screen since John is a legendary figure and Skynet is an intellect beyond our understanding. They're both very godlike in their manipulations and schemes to control the fate of the human race. We're not going to see them until Terminator 4 comes out, I just hope that they do it well.

We may not see them, but their presences are heavily acknowledged. Derek has had flashbacks mentioning him and the Connor's are hellbent on stopping Skynet from happening.
Skynet itself is responsible for sending the Terminators back, so it's there in every way.

I just hope that they don't make the portrayal of Skynet too cliché. Rather than making Skynet a monolithic force out to destroy everything in its path like every other evil robot, Skynet should be a more insidious villain with guile and grace.
Clearly Skynet is capable of subtlety as seen with its creation of the T-1000 and the T-888. Skynet should be able to exploit the various weaknesses of human nature. It should also be able to take full advantage of the limited resources after Judgment Day. Rather than having Skynet turning earth into some kind of machine world like the Matrix machines or the Borg, Skynet should actually exploit the various resources nature has to offer. It would be interesting if Skynet uses photosynthetic bacteria and plants in order to generate power for its factories. It would certainly create an interesting dilemma for the Resistance. The Resistance can't burn down a forest to destroy Skynet's ability to generate power since humans need trees too. If Skynet could find such ways to tie its own survival to the survival of the human race then the Resistance will not be able to hurt it without hurting themselves.

Since I am not a huge Terminator fan, how exactly do they portray Skynet in comics and books and so on?
