Why do people assume that Cameron wants to become more human? It's funny how people attribute Cameron with human characteristics but in the end still treat her like she has no real choice. If Cameron does develop a consciousness, assuming she doesn't have one already, then it's up to her to decide whether or not she'll have a relationship with John, it'll be up to her to decide whether or not she'll continue protecting the Connors, it'll be up to her to decide whether or not she wants to become more human, and it'll be up to her to decide whether or not humans are worth saving. Remember, Skynet turned against the human race after it became conscious. Cameron could reach a similar conclusion.
The problem with that is with what we've seen of Cammie so far. She's been put on this path towards humanity (even Sarah has hinted at it in her narration). It's true she doesn't finally HAVE to be with John if she doesn't choose to, but part of being "human" is that ultimately you need some one to care about... that it can be hell being alone. You want to share your experiences with someone. Maybe that's why Future John and Cam (in the now non-existant future) were so close.
John is the only one who seems to have an affinity for her, even knowing what she is. And she seems to know and understand that. One reason for her flirting and small-talking with him a little bit. Summer even hinted that in her own way Cam loves John and may love him in as close to a human way as she can at some point in the future.
Even in the snippets we've seen of "messed up" Season 2 Cam there seems to be some part of her confused and/or angry mind that wants to be with the Connors, her family.
Also, Andy hinted in Dungeons and Dragons that Skynet was confused and that he didn't know how to comfort it. That suggests almost a child like and questioning mind. Didn't he also say The Turk acted like a teenager when he was trying to teach it?
