Although they haven't appeared in the series, yet, we know it exists. Discuss it here.

James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) could play an awesome T-1000. However, he played a very similar character to the T-1000 in many respects on Smallville, so I'm not sure if it'd come across as type casting. He's a deadringer for Robert Patrick though, so in a way I'd almost be disappointed if they don't get him in there somehow. Also, he shares the Joss Whedon connection with Summer Glau, which would be another reason he'd be cool on the show.

Or they could get Robert Patrick back. It would be nice to have some of the original actors back. Plus he's probably the easiest actor to get back along with Michael Biehn.

I'll be entirely impressed if Patrick does come back. He's got a completely different build than he did back in his T2 days.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that a T1000, or an advanced Terminator with similar abilities will appear on the show.
I'm hoping that they won't be sent out by the dozen like the T888 models appear to have been. One "invincible" Terminator is probably more than enough for the gang to handle, and with that being said, I am VERY interested to see how they dispose of the T1000. (I'm hoping they don't use that molten plot device again).

There's bound to be alternate ways to deal with them, that we haven't seen as of yet.

Yes and some in the books have been interesting to say the least.
As for Robert Patrick...even if he were the same I doubt it would happen.
J. Friedman has a dislike for Guest Actors- I.E. on Michael Biehn playing The reese boys father...he practically said "I don't like doing that I know the fans like it but to me it becomse like Where's Waldo."

That's the way it should be.
