Discuss John Connor's resistance unit here.

In T:SCC canon, tech com isn't the name of the resistance but Kyle and Derek's M.O.S. (military specialty).

Does anyone know what the heck "tech com" stands for?
Technical combat? Technical communications?
I've seen the movies, read the novelizations when I was a kid (back before home video) - still clueless.

Oh, does the resistance have a name, Turk? Or are they simply called the Resistance for now?

We usually call them...the resistance. Individual units have formal and informal names, from the 132nd S.O.C., to the fire team consisting of Derek and Kyle Reese, Sayles, and Billy Wisher. In script they were called the Four Horsemen, and if you look closely you can see the unit patch on Derek's arm-- a skeletal rider on a skeletal horse (Amanda Friedland and her team came up with the patch, along with the little Terminator skulls sewn onto the arms, marking each soldiers' kills.

Thanks for clarifying and releasing those little tid-bits. I have to say the various canons can be confusing. At least you all have put forth the background of the resistance in the series. Really hoping we get to see more of the resistance as the series goes on. In another words, I'm all for more future-time on screen, if the budget will allow as such Have to say the kills as patches interests me a lot. Looks like I'm in for multiple viewings again.

The thing is, like a lot of aspects of the Terminator universe "Tech Com" as the name for the resistance was never actual onscreen canon-- it was an extrapolation from a throwaway Kyle Reese line which I always interpeted to be him talking about his military specialty. Because when you get right down to it, what kind of a silly name is "tech com" for a resistance movement? Wouldn't we all rather them be called "John Connor's League of Unholy Ass-Kickers" or something similar?

Turk, when we heard from an interview with BAG about the patches equaling the number of terminator kills, we over at TWoP were really curious. Would you know just how many Derek and Kyle had each? BAG said Derek had a lot.

I can see where you all approaching it from. From my experience, I actually heard it in TERMINATOR: DAWN OF FATE first. Didn't really pay the throw away line much heed back in the day, but I do have to agree with the approach that you all are taking with it.

Here's the exact quotes from Brian about the patches - I didn't include this in my article I just posted on the conference call w/ BAG and JF this week since my buddy Randy Jennings at THE ARNOLD FANS asked it and wanted to quote it for his own site....but I can quote it here in the forums R. Jennings Right. Did you get to keep your outfit? BA Green I wish. Because if I did, I would actually have it on one of those mannequins in my movie room or something, here. It was the coolest thing ever. The blaster alone, the fact that I was the only one with a green scope on it was pretty cool. But there were a bunch of specific little things all through the costumes that—just little details that you really didn’t pick up, but everybody had Terminator Kills on their sleeve, these little badges. And they were just little Terminator heads but everybody had one for every kill. Some guys had one and I think I had seven, which was pretty cool.
