I'm a n00b to this video editing thing, but it's pretty fun. The folks who follow me on Twitter have probably seen these already, but I figured I may as well put them in one place here.
Video quality is kind of crappy on these first two, as I did these before the S2 DVDs were out and the video lost some quality when I converted formats from what I had downloaded. I plan to re-do them now that I have the DVDs.
Don't Trip Sarah Connor's Wire Music: Garbage - Trip My Wire (b-side from the Subhuman single, 1995)
Weaver - As Heaven Is Wide Music: Garbage - As Heaven Is Wide (live at the Melkweg, Amsterdam, 1995; Album - Garbage)
This is my absolute favorite Garbage live performance, which is kind of funny since I think the song is a little flat on the record. It's a whole new animal live....much more raw.
The next two are using video from the DVDs, so the quality is much better.
I had been wanting to do a video to Ayeia's My Revenge On The World for a very long time and had to wait for the season 2 DVDs to arrive. If you like the music, definitely check out more of Ayria's work. She played at this year's DragonCon and her latest album, Hearts for Bullets is really good - great beats.
Kick My Ass (the Jesse / Riley story) Music: Garbage - Kick My Ass (Vic Chesnutt cover from the Sweet Relief II: Gravity of the Situation - The Songs of Vic Chesnutt, 1996)

It's sad the quality of those first two aren't better because it's hard to appreciate the action and timing. I'd never seen that Jesse/Riley one before, but it's wonderful. My favorite among those vids is "My Revenge on the World". That is just awesome in every way. Having made a video myself now, I really notice stuff I didn't used to notice. I'd watch a video, think it was great and not really know exactly what it was about it that made it work. Now I understand. It's the music, the tone, the timing, the beat, the clip choices. And you nailed it all!

Thanks, Roxy Don't worry...I will re-make the first two. I have some ideas for how to make them a bit better, too. I totally know what you mean about being able to appreciate videos at a higher level after having tried for myself. That's part of the fun! So far, I haven't used any special effects for transitioning - they're all straight cuts. I think the next step is to learn how to do that effectively. I've seen some videos where the transitions or effects are distracting so they definitely have to be applied carefully / judiciously. I like how you did the transitions in your video. Definitely not distracting.

Yeah I was worried about transitions when I did mine too. I didn't want to go overboard. — kind of like when I see people who are new to PhotoShop get carried away with beveling and shadows and stuff in graphics that they make... It horrifies me because it's total overkill. So I didn't want to be the n00b who slaps you in the face with overdone transition effects at every turn. I hope I restrained enough I'm looking forward to your next video.
