At the risk of sounding pedantic I noticed the voice over described Skynet as a "Computer Program", in the first series the voice over described Skynet as a "Computer System". By calling it a program, read: software as opposed to hardware then the concept of what Skynet is appears to be heading down the T3 path and possibly away from the archaic original concept of Skynet being a single central hub tucked away in some mountain bunker. But that also goes back to the idea of the singularity, that machines can continually improve themselves. If Skynet has a "software mind" then it can continue to build better hardware to inhabit. However, if Skynet is completely dependent on the hardware then the superior machines that it builds are essentially replacements.

What I was trying to get at was that it's my understanding that Skynet is meant to be some isolated computer system buried within a secure bunker complex deep inside a mountain. If I understand it correctly this was all part of James Cameron's original premise. When T3 came out they changed that premise and introduced the idea that Skynet was in fact a program that could operate within any networked system.
As I said before It's probably just me being pedantic (just for a change) but when the intro describes Skynet as a program you can't deny the fact that at the very least it opens the door to the possibility of steering the series towards some of the ideas introduced in T3.

I hope they're not going with T3's version of Skynet. Even if Skynet was software, it would be stupid for it to be able to operate on any computer. You certainly can't play Halo 3 on an Apple II. I would imagine that Skynet has much higher system requirements but I do think that it can operate on any system the meets those requirements and that Skynet can improve itself in such a way that it would constantly need to be upgraded to better and more powerful hardware.

It's the software that gives it the ability to be self aware. The software is the mind, the hardware the body so to speak. If 1 billion apple 2's were networked together it would be fairly powerful.

In the Terminator Skynet was described as to paraphrase: A connected network of supercomputers.
In T3 to paraphrase: We put the world under the control of the largest of computer Systems.
T3's Skynet is both Digital and Hardware.

Mod Note - This thread is extremely off-topic. A suggestion would be to take this particular discussion to the correct place and actually continue discussing the intro itself here. Thank you.

Back to topic: I would like a new intro since the current one is just bland IMHO.

Just my take, but I like the new intro. No issues with it or the prior season's.

The new intro.... SUCKS!!
It's about as uninspiring as you could get!
How about the FULL force, balls-to-the-wall Brad Fiedel Terminator 2 theme with shots of Judgment Day, the future with fierce battles waging in between the introduction of the characters and the actors portraying them via cool clips and such and such as such and such type credits?
Did I mention that this new intro. is terrible? =)
