That's always going to be his memorable key note in my eyes.

John asked Sarah, "Are you talking about Andy Gurt (sp?)?"
The answer is YES!

Yeah she's clearly still affected by Andy's death.

There was potential there.

You never know, maybe Andy followed Derek & co. to the time displacement chamber and went through after them. Of course he'd be 20 years older, but you know, if you clean him up a bit and shave off the beard, he could probably still sell Sarah a cell phone

That's a slim possibility, but considering we haven't dealt with alternate timelines in the series. It's possible. It also seems like a nice little loophole for Sarah to meet an alternate version of Kyle.

I think that there may have been more to Andy for Sarah than her not wanting another "civilian" getting caught up in the war. I think she did see some endearing qualities to him, but whatever the case, he got offed before Sarah had any chance to explore whatever potential feelings she may have had.

That and his connection to Skynet put him in harms way, even if he wasn't fully aware of the full potential of what it was that he was creating at hand. It's like Derek said: Sarah doesn't have the heart of a killer.

Watching it again... I think Ms. Dyson's words really hit home with Sarah. Dyson was hesitant to tell Sarah about him and after she did asked if it meant he was going to die. I think that moment at the grave, and Andy's seemingly harmless charm, really made killing him a last resort for Sarah. She would have told him about what the future held before she killed him.
ETA: That comment about Sarah not being a Killer reminds me of T2 when Sarah was busting out of the state facility. Silberman said that about her, and Sarah responded with the idea that everyone was already dead anyway. That statement has been used to defend Derek. It's just really interesting. I read the T2 book recently... most of it... and while Arnold's character is learning how to be more human, Linda Hamilton's character is trying to be harder and colder... which is more like a machine. These are some of my favorite themes in the Terminator franchise.
