Thanks for reading; I own nothing to do with Terminator. This is a Derek/Sarah ship, just a warning.
Summary: He never wanted any of this, but now he can't think of a place he'd rather be, DerekPOV.
TTSCC: Life
He never wanted any of this.
He didn't even want to live at one point after his brother's disappearance.
But if there is one thing Derek Reese has learned in his life time, is that you hardly ever get what you want.
It surprises him then when he starts to see her a different way.
Sarah Connor that is.
Kyle worshiped the woman in the future, past whatever it is. He could hardly stand the thought that his brother saw this woman that way when he had not even met her.
Then he met her.
Her eyes burn with a fire that he only saw in John from the future and yet she lets down her defenses when she is with him.
John.
He watches her then and he wonders if this is the Sarah Connor that his brother fell in love with.
If this is the woman that he died for.
It's then the darkness that has been following him since he lost Kyle to the machines in the early days of the war claws at him.
He gasps for breath in those moments.
And he becomes something else, the killer, the machine that he hates so much. Yet she manages to bring him back to his senses every time.
She calms him.
It surprises him, the fact that he wants to spend more time around her. Because he was so sure he could have hated her at one point.
He never wanted any of this.
To feel disarmed around anyone, especially her.
To know that somebody could quite possibly hinder his plans to stop Skynet no matter what.
He looks up to the sky as he had so many years ago, a life time ago now.
He never wanted any of this, now he can't think of any place he'd rather be.
