Awesome. Another classic franchise conforms to the PG-13 rating, all so they can milk as much money as possible off of the name alone. I can't wait to watch the feeble minded people eat this crap up and attempt to call it a good movie. The only good that can come of this is that the die hard fans boycott it and the movie bombs. Anderson and Kubieack know NOTHING about films, they're just some 20-something year old guys who know everything there is to know about advertising and making a buck. THIS MOVIE WILL SUCK.

Ah yes it shalt suck dueth to a PG-13 rating.
I have seen thine point of view, but thankfully it is blissfully rare much to my surprise.
Perhaps thou shalt wait until...thou hast seen the film?
Logic would dictate such a decision wouldst be wise.
(Sorry such phrasing just came to me. I'm having a rather fun day).

H.C,
Earlier in another thread, I once said don't just say it sucks, since it doesn't tell us anything. So if you're going to say its good, bad, sucks or whatever, tell us why you think so.
Now here's the next thing I'll say to you:
Now that you've said your opinions, I respect that. So please respect mine and others in turn; even if their views aren't the same as yours.
My comment is: A movie rating has nothing to do with whether its great or bombs. Lets wait til the movie arrives to further make opinions and civilly debate them (without resorting to insults and such like who must be drinking coolaid).

Terras, one more than one occasion I listed very justifiable reasons, here they are since you obviously missed them:
Again, you're reaching, Ross. This is McG and Halcyon! They're corporate whores and studio plants that have tricked you into thinking this is going to be a good film. You're just too much of a fanboy to ever believe that anything Terminator related can be bad (that is one thing that I've come to learn about you). If this were James Cameron, Darren Aronofsky, or someone with a legit resume, then a PG-13 rating may not be an issure. But that's the thing, Cameron would NEVER shoot a PG-13 Terminator film and Aronofsky probably wouldn't either. McG is responsible for two of the worst action movies ever created and he's even lended a hand in a terrible PG-horror movie in "Stay Alive." This guy has had 12 years to prove his worth and he never has, so there's no reason to believe that he will now, at all.
But don't take my word for it... here's your brilliant PG-13 director at work:
LOLOLOLOL. This is a very dark day for the REAL Terminator fans worldwide.
I can't wait for the bad word of mouth to destroy T4. The sooner they get hack directors like McG and corporate whores like Anderson and Kubieck out of Hollywood, the sooner we can get back to great R rated franchises. Even "The Matrix" series stuck to an R rating and made MASSIVE bank... the fact that the WB and Halcyon can't see that is because they just want to milk this name for everything it's worth. They are a disgrace to all of the fans of Terminator, but some are just too blind that they'll eat it up and love it.
frak this movie and frak McG, WB, and Halcyon.

For me it all boils down to the story. I don't think it's such great idea to compromise a story for a PG 13 rating but on the other hand it all depends on what they were originally toying around with that would have gotten them an R.
McG was babbling in the past about how the softness of Moon Bloodgood's tits represent humanity. Um, yeah nice justification there buddy but if that's the difference between an R and a PG 13 I don't think it's enough to justify going for the R so Moon can show us her tits.
In any case, I expect we'll see extras and such on DVD so I'm not too worried about what might have been cut.

McG said a lot of things, motoki.
The guy is nothing more than a great spokesman. That should be his job, really. He's nothing more than a hack director with great speeches to win over fans and then trick them into seeing his shitty films. It wouldn't surprise me if he knew it'd be PG-13 all along and just said all of those things so the fans wouldn't hate him. But hey, the real fans can see through his fake plastic ass. He's a corporate whore, a bitch for Anderson and Kubieck to keep a leash on. He's a fake, a phony.

Well let's see if you look to the past Hollow Crown the future cannot be seen now can it. So placing footage of his CA 2 film is hardly representative of his current work. Let's take a look at that current work shall we. Terminator Salvation...TV Trailer One. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzi-F2AMscUThere we go.

you know HC, people would care about your opinion if you didn't have such a hatred for a film you know nothing about. Most of us don't assume it's going to be awesome, but we're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have my doubts, but I don't assume it's going to suck.

I agree with the context that Ross put forth in his article.
Can't say I have any issue with the Terminator franchise moving into PG-13 territory as long as it maintains the world of Terminator properly.

I admit I am seriously disappointed. I was hoping for a Terminator war movie that was realistic in its depictions of both combat with the machines and the conditions in which humans are forced to live. Granted, they may be able to pull it off with this rating, but it still isn’t going to be as realistic as I had hoped. It also sucks that I will have to endure younger children at the theater. However, I’m still going to give the movie a chance and reserve judgment until I’ve seen it. I really like Bale and honestly after T3 *spits* I don’t think this will be any worse. If the story is strong enough I can live without seeing some of the violence and whatnot that I picture when thinking about a post-Judgment Day world.

Well, if we're all hung up on PG13, has anyone seen other TV series such as Jeremiah? The DVD sets are Unrated, but the aired tv version was at the very least PG13, even PG14A (Canadian rating inbetween PG13 and NC17). It was more than gritty enough with mature content subject matter and themes, including killing, nudity, some sexual content, swearing, violence. It wasn't quite Mad Max, but it certainly wasn't a tv series for younger children. Thats why I'm not concerned about T4's PG13 rating. I saw Jeremiah on tv, and watched the dvd sets for the eps i missed. Its pretty harsh at some points. And I expect no less from T4. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised by T4. So we won't be seeing excessive blood and gore such as people getting torn in half and clear visuals of their entrails hanging out (aka Blackhawk Down). Though We'll probably still see a fair share of blood and torn flesh & wounds. I'm really banking on the cast and crew's acting performance, their ability to deliver, as well as the quality of the written script. And we'll still have a lot of wholesome goodness Terminator CG goodness.

I think another thing to remember is T3 cost A LOT...and had ARNIE to bank on...and Didn't even make back it's BUDGET stateside.
So in reality there was very little chance of this being anything other than PG-13 no matter how HARD McG fought for it.
No Arnie to Hype and another huge budget and Watchmen tanking add up to a PG-13...and a hard sounding one at that...to make sure that it makes good money.
And I like the look of the future presented in the trailers and want to see more of this future in the sequels. And in order to totally greenlight a T5...they need good business.

No argument there Ross. I'm a bit disappointed, but its not going to stop me from enjoying the movie if its good. And like you said, if it does well at least it'll be easier to get further installments.
