"McG... An interesting choice" puts it well.
Cameron was great. I think Mostow did a fine job with T3, despite the naysayers. But when I think of Mr. Charlie's Angels, my stomach turns a little bit. We shall see. More Terminator is always a good thing, but I am so far into TSCC that I could care less about movies right now, as long as the Series gets the full run that it's Creators envision.
Allegedly T4 is the start of a new Trilogy. For the sake of consistency, I would say stick with one director. But with McG, who knows?

Thus far I'm not convinced on the directoral choice either. Then again neither was I with Mostow, even though T3 was basically a lesser copy of T2 with an adult John and the war finally starting. I've got my gripes with T3 but since it brought in an adult John, I'm personally a fan.
With McG, all I can really tell from his movies is he can fast, action paced movies, that require a lot of C.G.I. CHARLIE'S ANGELS doesn't exactly scream TERMINATOR training ground in my eyes unless I'm missing something somewhere in the process.

Don't forget the LOUD music either. He does come from a Music Video background..

Oh yeah, definitely don't want to forget that. Now, that you mention it. CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE basically felt like one big music video instead of an action movie.
Mostow at least had U-571 to his name...I know its a far cry from any type of future war, but at least it was a war film...inside of a sub.
McG also has a bunch of TV producer credits: SUPERNATURAL....FASTLANE....(the only two that I can think of at the moment).

Anyone heard casting on Kate Brewster? I'd heard she be in it (though that they'd not yet be married, I think). Hope she's more than bit part. Anyone heard any other character names except Marcus?
I really do hope the focus shifts more to JC - right now it sounds like it's going to be mostly about Marcus, and that isn't that interesting to me. I mean, he may wind up being a great character, but Terminator is about Sarah and (especially) John Connor to me. Hearing Bale was cast gave me hope, there, though.

Supposedly T4 is more Marcus centric...in that the story is told more through his life...with Connor as a side character...while T4 and T5..feature Connor big time.
But as I've said...as long as the core of the story stays intact and it seems to be...I'm mor than happy with any story they build around it.

Would be interesting if it actually managed to covered just about everything Terminator related, but honestly, the way McG is coming off it'll be a weird combo of everything.
I haven't heard anything about Kate on this project at all.

I think all I initially heard about Kate was from this description (which I heard before I heard about Marcus, but hadn't been looking for T4 info, so I don't know which was released first).
I see a longer description at killermovies.com.

I hope the description is a little off. They realize they must create a resistance? Weren't they working on that at the end of T3? Which was like 15 years before this movie?
I like the army of robots slowly being built. Not sure what to think of the traitor in disguise (can't be a passable infiltration unit at this point, but not sure why a human would be traitor - or that everyone knows it's the machines doing this yet). Definite potential to be interesting.
Also, if it's 2019 (as the wikipedia entry says - crediting an interview), then they should be past the beginning stages, I'd think. And they aren't married yet. I mean, the future could have changed, but originally they had kids who were important in the war in 2032. Seems like the kids would need to be born already.* But, I guess they don't want kids in the movie.
*Yes, they could have kids before they were married, but it seems unlikely to be the case.
