I am all for a PG-13 Terminator film.
The ratings certainly have changed in that PG-13 films are as violent as R films were a bare 2 years ago.
R now should really be reclassified...especially with the gruesome 'Torture Porn" flicks.
If anything the PG-13 has me even more excited.
Kudos to the Producers coming out with this announcement so early.

Well TSCC proves that Terminator doesn't need to be rated R to still give you big impact. Common thread in ‘Terminator’ film Rapper to co-star in Warner Bros.’ sequel Rapper Common has signed on to co-star in “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” for Halcyon Pictures. Christian Bale and Sam Worthington have already boarded the project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. domestically. Sony will release the film in most foreign territories. Story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor’s inner circle. McG will direct from a script by John D. Brancato & Michael Ferris and Paul Haggis. Dan Lin, Mortiz Borman, Victor Kubicek, Jeff Silver, Derek Anderson and Jeanne Allgood are producing the film, which will bow May 22, 2009. Common can next be seen onscreen in “Wanted,” starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Later this summer, he is set to release his eighth album, “Invincible Summer.” Source- Variety

The problem with a PG-13 rating is that they have to put quite a bit of effort into making it a PG-13 rating. The ratings are so arbitrary since there are no standardized rules. The movie makers are going to have to do a little dance with the MPAA. They'll be forced to tons of editing and ask some incredibly inane questions like: "Will you let this this scene have this amount of violence if we change the soldier being shot from a woman to a man and decrease the volume of the scream? Will you let us have an extra 'frak,' if we get rid of three 'shits?' Will you let us show a child being killed by a Terminator if we get rid of this scene where three adults are shot by Terminators?" It's incredibly time consuming and could result in some drastic alterations to the film when all those little edits are added up.

That is also true...
Let's not forget also that as filming continues they might end up going for the R in the end anyway.
Either way I have a feeling we'll be getting a continuation of the series that will spark many many discussions.

www.streethop.com/forums/articles/120384.htmlNot only is Common in T4...but he's playing one of my fave characters. Danny Dyson. I hope this is accurate because the Comics show danny surviving the war and becoming a kinda Resistance Tech Guru.

“Terminator 4″ starts filming despite strike fearsA source familiar with the latest sequel said filmmakers have no intention of wrapping production by June 30 and have taken legal precautions in case of a work stoppage. A second person close to the film’s production will go on hiatus if there is a strike, but others said that is a risky endeavor. “I think many productions are planning on wrapping up by the strike deadline. It is often very difficult to stop production midway. Putting a production on hold is a pretty gigantic responsibility,” said one executive from a talent agency who spoke on condition of anonymity. Due to its late production start, “Terminator 4″ was ineligible for special “strike expense” insurance coverage recently offered by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. Wendy Diaz, underwriting director at Fireman’s, said many studios rushed ahead with production to get the coverage, which was contingent on shooting being scheduled to end by June 15. The policies reimburse producers for strike losses if filming is delayed past June 30 by unforeseen circumstance, such as an actor’s illness or equipment damage. Few, if any, studio movies were put into production after late March or early April, because a typical 60-day movie shooting cycle would cut it too close to the presumed strike deadline. Steven Spielberg called off an April start to a film about the trial of the 1968 anti-war activists, and Michael Bay is keeping his fingers crossed for an early June start for a sequel to his “Transformers.” (Editing by Bob Tourtellotte and Cynthia Osterman) Source - Reuters

New T4 news. Teves talks about his work on Terminator 4 saying that it will be dramatically different from all the other T movies, stating that this is the John Conner story and that it will take place essentially before all the terminator films took place. There still will be action, with lots of machines, and robots including a much cruder design of the previous terminators. Teves comments that usually prequel type movies make the mistake of making things look newer than they’re supposed to be, which I agree with. That’s what was wrong with the star wars prequels in my book! He says that although T4 will be the most different film of the three, there still will be lots of hardware and plenty of toys, reminding us that this takes place in a world when machines have taken over completely. Yes it sounds like it's a prequal...set intirely in a Machine ruled future world. RBR LIkes the interview very much. gspodcast.blogspot.com/2008/04/episode-18-miles-teves.htmlIt's long and very good but the T4 stuff goes from. 58:12 is where T4 starts or thereabouts. For around 4 mins. Boy does it sound exciting.

From Cannes: Bale to make Three Terminator films news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7411013.stmChristian Bale is to play rebel leader John Connor in three sequels to the Terminator franchise, its producers have revealed. The Welsh-born star, who is soon to be seen in Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, has already started shooting the first of those films, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. "He's really an actor's actor, so we're very proud," said Victor Kubicek of film company Halcyon. Charlie's Angels director McG is directing the new film, which is due to be released on 22 May 2009. Send your questions to the Terminator producers "Christian was our first choice and he's a big fan of The Terminator, so we're very lucky," Kubicek told the BBC at the Cannes Film Festival. "But with Batman he's already done the whole franchise thing, so we weren't sure he'd respond." Luckily, said Kubicek's business partner Derek Anderson, "he read the script and he loved it, so he's signed on for all three." US rap star Common will also have a lead role in the film, as will Australian actor Sam Worthington, who will soon be seen in Titanic director James Cameron's science-fiction epic Avatar. Arnold Schwarzenegger Schwarzenegger played the Terminator in three blockbuster films The producers would not reveal whether Arnold Schwarzenegger would reprise his role as the Terminator. Nor would they discuss character names or plot details. "We can't talk about the story points at all," said Kubicek, adding the project was being kept strictly under wraps. "Not everyone gets to see the script. They only see the part of the script that's relevant to the job they're doing." But the producers promised not to disappoint fans of the time-travelling franchise, which has also spawned TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles. "We're both huge Terminator fans and we're just approaching it from the point of view of what we'd like to see," said Anderson. "Any time we're feeling pressure we just take a step back and say, as fans, 'what would we like to see?'"

**Warning Spoiler Details** Terminator 4 Story Details ReleasedAnd Charlotte Gainsbourg is Kate Connor Source: Warner Bros - SourceWith shooting now underway on the first of McG’s new Terminator franchise, titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, Warner Bros has issued a press release that reveals an overview of the plot, as well as a couple of new names in the cast. The plot synopsis is as follows: “In the highly anticipated new installment of “The Terminator” film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.” All fairly vague, yes, but this is only a start of shooting announcement. The release also goes on to reveal that Charlotte Gainsbourg (The Science of Sleep) will play Kate Connor, John Connor’s wife who was previously played by Claire Danes; and that Jadagrace will a play a character named Star. We have no idea who Jadagrace is and can’t find any mention of an actress or singer (she sounds like a singer) with that name anywhere. That is unless she’s the daughter of rugby player Wally Lewis. But that would be weird because she’s only two months old and probably really not up to the action scenes just yet. Charlotte seems to be best known to French audiences and has a long resume of French films.
