We're assuming that Cameron actually knew who McG was when they had their talk but maybe Cameron didn't find out that McG directed Charlie's Angels until after their talk.
Also you have to put his comments in context. Did an interviewer ask him about what he thought about T4 and McG or did he hold a press conference just to say that he doesn't think McG can do a good job with T4? If someone asked Cameron about what he thought about T4 then I don't see what's so inappropriate for him to simply state his opinion but if he made a jab against McG out of no where then he would be a jerk.

She looks like she's 71 not 51. Man... Yeah, but kudos to her for not going the typical botox route.

This just in according to Vic over at T-Files:
Been in contact with my PR contacts at WB and they told me lots of stuff is being worked on. There is a new promotional website coming and it has a higher priority then something in some blog.
They (or she) actually said that it would launch faster then I could say "I'll be back"... but I did not.
Soo... have a bit more patience. More is coming.

I think people will flip if it's a Project Angel site. They want Terminator Salvation or nothing.

Project Angel was both the shooting name for T4 and possibly the Program to which Marcus signed off his body while on Death Row.

Project Angel was both the shooting name for T4 and possibly the Program to which Marcus signed off his body while on Death Row. I'm one of the few who likes the idea of Project Angel. It's sort of like an early Skynet prototype. I like it also. Also this just in. I have the article but not the link to an interview between Quint of AICN and James Cameron he talks Avatar and more importantly- Terminator: Salvation. "Quint: First, thanks for giving this interview and welcome back.
James Cameron: No problem.
Quint: First thing I want to ask you, how did you come up with "Avatar?"
James Cameron: I started thinking of it on 1994 in my bedroom, to be honest. I submitted a scriptment to Fox a year later, but at the time, they were more interested in making "Titanic," which I had no problem with. I got a lot of influence from Arthur Doyle's "The Lost World" and Asimov's stories to name a few, so you'll see nods to those novels. And I just wrote as the ideas came along. I didn't plan anything in the beginning.
Quint: How's the film going on?
James Cameron: Well, it's great! I love it. We just wrapped up a few months ago, and we're currently in post-production over at Weta Digital to do the touch-ups and blend the special effects with the live-action. When I came up with the idea, I had special effects in mind because I wanted to do with "Avatar" what I did with "Terminator 2." It would've never been possible back in the mid-'90's, so I held it back a few years and worked on other projects. But now I'm back on, and I said "All right! Let's do this!"
Quint: Can you tell us any details about the story?
James Cameron: (laughs) Not really. I can say, though, that it'll be epic. It's no holds barred. But for the people who've read the scriptment, I'm sorry to say that the final film will be different. I changed a lot of things due to recent stuff going on in the world, like global warming and advancement in technology, so the film will focus a little on that.
Qunit: Wow! Sounds exciting!
James Cameron: Yeah! Hope it turns out that way to the audience!
Quint: And how was working with Sam Worthington?
James Cameron: He's fantastic. At first, I was a bit skeptical like with Leonardo DiCaprio in "Titanic," but on his second test screening, I realized he was perfect, you know. The Fox executives were able to convince me, and he did a great job. He may even be the next DiCaprio, if I may add. (laughs)
Quint: He's also working on the upcoming "Terminator" movie...
James Cameron: Yeah, he really liked the script.
Quint: So how did that come about?
James Cameron: McG flew over to New Zealand and wanted to talk to me, you know, respecting the franchise and stuff. So while we were talking, I suggested him Sam, and he accepted it.
Quint: What did you guys talk about?
James Cameron: McG wanted to talk about the Terminators. I didn't read the script, so he also talked to me about the story and asked permission to continue the story. So I said "Yeah! Go ahead. Make the film your own." We spoke for some time, and, yeah, he seemed excited about it, so I told him to do it the way he wants to do it.
Quint: What did you think of it?
James Cameron: I'm not supposed to reveal anything, so sorry, can't tell you. He didn't tell me everything though. He told me the basic outline and what it was gonna be about. That was back then, too, and I heard Jonathan Nolan was writing it now, so it could go both ways.
Quint: Great, I can't wait for "Avatar." Thanks for your time.
James Cameron: Sure, no problem. I'll be back." Sounds like good stuff...also that could easily be construed as getting Camerons blessing.

That interview is actually fake, haha.
Someone posted that on IMDB and another user provided a link to where it was confirmed to be fake.
James actually gave NO blessing and I've actually never heard him sound that "friendly" in an interview.
So yeah, completely bogus interview right there. Sorry, man.

Funny since it matches what Cameron told me in one of our few conversations since Titanic.
