How does any of that follow?
The whole point, narratively, of sending John into the future is that it changes the rules. "The normal rules no longer apply" has been the theme of the entire second half of the season. So any assumptions based on how the future worked when Sarah died and John Connor lived through Judgement Day and met Kyle Reese in Century Workcamp and formed the resistance are all out the window. They no longer apply because none of that happened to John.
We don't know what's the same or what's different (apart from the obvious - Derek's still alive). There's a resistance. That's it, that's all we know.

John Connor is supposed to be the one who brings humanity back from the brink. Without John Connor, the human race should be doomed. The whole premise of the series hinges on John Connor being the savior. This is not a "rule," this is law. This is the very basis of the Terminator mythology. It's one of the things you can't break down without breaking down the entire story.
If they're going to say that the human race doesn't need John Connor. They might as well also say that Skynet is actually being controlled by an evil alien or that future John doesn't actually exist and that he's just a myth created by the leadership of the Resistance to raise morale.

This isn't necessarily specific to season 3, but it could be: In the chat last night with Josh and Ash, I asked if there was a reason the show went with 2027 instead of T1's 2029 for the starting point of all the future stuff at the beginning of the series. Ash said "yes". So the 2-year shift wasn't a slip-up or an arbitrary choice. I'm excited by that

How's this for speculation... John Henry fixed pretty terminator's chip and downloaded himself onto that so he could go find his brother. Meanwhile, Sarah discovers that Cameron's chip isn't missing, it's in her pocket. She puts it back in and has her cyborg weapon again to help her go fight Kaliba. So basically, John and Weaver got duped by John Henry and Cameron. Cameron's will still want to kill Ellison and now Sarah will be okay with that idea.

I love it, of course! The idea is beautiful. Cameron dupes John in order to teach him the ultimate lesson - don't be stupid. It's brilliant. Truly brilliant.

I love it, of course! The idea is beautiful. Cameron dupes John in order to teach him the ultimate lesson - don't be stupid. It's brilliant. Truly brilliant. I will also sign on for that. Would've been really funny if Cam's message had been "Don't be a dumbass John" as opposed to "I'm Sorry." See, Cam always seemed like a real contradiction to me. In Automatic, she warns John that things have changed, he can't be trusted, him fixing her up is going to upset people (the implication being that in the future when he's leader, his followers won't be too keen on the concept of him risking his life to save a machine's). She seems pretty sincere on the issue. Then, she's all over him like a rash when it suits her purposes. I wonder what her bigger mission was. Protect John? Prevent JD? Or influence the way everything turns out for her own purposes? I guess that all comes around to who actually sent her back... Future!John? Or Cameron herself because F!J is dead...?

Or was there ever a Future!John in this timeline?
Could it be that Present!John and Future!John are one in the same.
And now unless something drastic happens that Present!John will die in the Future throwing everything into disarray.

No, there was never a future!John in this timeline, as we saw in BTR. But there was a future!John in every other timeline: the one Derek came from, the one Jesse came from, the one Cameron came from, the one Weaver came from. I think the Kaliba water cooler terminator is the only time traveler so far that came from this current future where there's no future!John.
