Idea to show Fox that we're watching: Fox ran an advertisement for terminator fans to win a Dodge truck. They're probably doing this to guage their Tivo audience so if you want to be counted, or counted again, enter the contest. Spread this message to other TSCC forums. www.fox.com/terminator/ramgood thinking people we need to save this show, so help with all of you can

Here's what Variety said about the ratings:
The high-rated NFL action seemed to take some of the punch out of Fox's male-skewing "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall), which was down about 15% from its nothing-special second-season premiere a week ago. "Prison Break" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) followed and was down modestly week to week but continues to lag last season's averages.
Really - I don't know where they came up w/ their numbers. How did they rank TSCC as more than PB? Either way if it really does come out as 8.5 that's still better than the last few eps from last season.

Another thing they really should do is advertise more to female viewers. Terminator may be a sci-fi action franchise but it does appeal more to women than most other sci-fi and action franchises and Sarah Connor is one of the few iconic female action stars. Also, statistically, female viewers are more likely to stick with a show than male viewers.

Yes Fox moronically thinks that only men watch this show. They should've know different when they invited MOAD to the premiere and the first big fansite on the web was run by females (as is it's new incarnation SCS.net.)
Everyone from Fox seemed very confused over why I, a female, seemed to like the show or was interested in it. They were like "wow you must be a big Terminator fan."
Yeah, not really. I LOVE Sarah Connor, she's one of my iconic heroes for favorite characters of all time. Also the original Terminator is a tragic love story people forget that and always just think of Arnold. Then again, the corporate types still don't think that women enjoy sci-fi in general *rolls eyes.*
I've actually had to FORCE myself to watch anything that's NOT sci-fi because there's so much GOOD Sci-fi on TV now, any women who love strong female arch-types know that they'll mostly ONLY find them on sci-fi tv (with the exception of Law, crime, medical shows...but how many of those can you watch?)

And here I thought ladies only watched T:SCC because Richard Jones was hot.
Kidding! Just kidding!
Really!
(don't hurt me)
There's something to be said about a good show that can appeal to *both* sexes and I think often times that the suits lose track of this, especially with all the talk about demos and focused advertising and such.
And yeah. Terminator 1 is a love story and Terminator 2 is about a mother protecting her son from danger. Both are storylines that I can completely understand why women enjoy them. At the same time they had everything that could make a guy like a movie, too. Explosions. Arnie. Sci-Fi stuff and special effects.
That, I think, is what makes them such classics of the genre and so beloved.
As long as the writers don't lose sight of this, hopefully the ratings won't end up any worse than they are now. We are tying for first for the slot. The next couple weeks are going to be tough with Heroes (well, a recap version of the show) and then Chuck opposite us.

I don't know if this will make any of you optimistic, but WWE's "Raw" pulled in its worst rating in MONTHS last night. It only drew a 2.6 cable rating (it usually pulls in about a 3.6 - 3.8).
Hmm...

A lot of people here in Ohio and Texas don't have electric. That should be figured into why the ratings were down, I think. I don't know if other states have been effected by hurricane Ike haven't been listening to the news. What do you all think?

Wow. Maybe that will change their worthless storylines... But back to topic: I think that Monday Night Football is a killer of everything on Monday nights and it was a terrible decision to keep SCC there. What do you all think will happen if the show pulls the same or less next week? Will that really be panic time?

To be honest, I kinda already is panic time. The premiere only pulling in 6.34 million wasn't anything to write home about. Look, I know DVR numbers do get taken into consideration, but Fox is only going to focus on this show going from a consistent 8 million viewers a week to a terrible 5.4 million. I still think this show has to get back into the 7 million range if it wants to finish out its 13 episode order, let alone a full 22 or a third season.
I'll tell you one thing... if this show drops into the 4 million by next week, Fox will be one step away from pulling the plug.

So, how many episodes do they currently have completed? I'd feel really bad if they have a ton of unaired eps.

That amount remains unannounced at the moment unless Zack wants to give us details as to what number their filming at present.
You know if this was the FOX of old I would be worried, but honestly FOX is a lot better than they were in times past. Just remember the Peter Griffin quote from FAMILY GUY's return to FOX. They've canned a lot of shows in their time, when it comes down to it. The series is holding its own as it is.
Again, we're only two episodes in, a portion of the country is minus power and football is on at present.

They have no new shows ready until January. They have invested heavily into it I doubt they will let it go that easily.. and I'd be surprised if there wasn't some backroom deal going on with Warner Bros to keep the show on the air till the new movie appears in May..

You have to wonder if the ratings are not more indicative of a longer term change in viewing trends. In recent years American TV and for that matter Australian TV as well has seen a huge surge towards Reality/Lifestyle/Talent shows, at the expense of the more traditional staple of Drama series. These new wave shows a goldmine for networks as long as the bubble doesn't burst, they rake in viewers and are relatively cheap to produce compared to an average Drama series.
Television critics in Australia have long argued that these reality based shows have done nothing for the standard of Television, other than to dumb it down, and as a byproduct lower audience expectation. As a result there is less demand for Drama on TV. The other knock on effect of this 'fast food TV mentality' (for lack of a better term) is it's become increasingly difficult for any new Drama series to get a foot-hold in a market that seems increasingly indifferent to this genre.
Setting aside long established franchises, here in Australia there has been an alarming lack of American TV drama series genuinely taking off in the last 12 months or so. Most seem to get a short run and then either get binned completely or a shuffled off to the graveyard slot. The only two exceptions that easily come to mind are Dexter & Burn Notice. Even these shows don't exactly cause much excitement on the ratings scale. However Australian networks are usually willing to carry a few foreign Drama series that may not rate but do get a lot of strong critical reviews.
TSCC in Australia is more indicative of recent trends. When the 1st series premiered it didn't get a huge publicity push. The Nine network brought out Thomas Dekker & Summer Glau for a publicity junket but it's safe to say that 95% of Australians probably didn't have a clue who they were. After the initial ratings spike due to the novelty factor TSCC trailed off to being something of a non-event on Australian TV. To this date there has been no word at all as to any possible air dates for the 2nd series.

It's possible and Warner Bros. seems to be fitting the bill in regards to the series. FOX is pretty much getting off pretty easily on the series as it is.
