My sister read somewhere that DirecTV is in negotiations to start forking over THEIR numbers to the studios to give them even more ratings fodder to contemplate over.
I have to think that considering they specifically sponsored both TSCC and Bones that THEY know that both shows are doing phenomenally well through their service.
*Only hopes that they give over those numbers in time to get TSCC a S3*

DirecTV only recently started offering Local channels (ABC,CBS, Fox etc.) before that I had to use rabbit ears to get the local stations. DirectTV charges an extra $5 a month to add local channels. A lot of subscribers aren't willing to get ripped off for that extra $$$. That will effect any ratings DirecTV reports. I was dumb enough to fork over the extra $5 a month. It still pisses me off every time I see the bill. I'm up to almost $70 a month for basic service and two receiver boxes. No HBO, Showtime or PPV movies. I refuse to waste any more money on tv. I started using DirectTv over 10 years ago and always received the local affiliates thru DirectTv without using rabbit ears.

You were lucky. DirecTV didn't offer local channels in Little Rock until 2005. I've been a subscriber since 1999. People way out in the country could get a generic network (NBC, CBS) channel. But, in the city they wouldn't let us have it because we could get the local on an antenna.
Has anyone heard if the TSCC cast got any major salary raises in S2? Salaries can be a major factor in renewals. Other budget items (sets, costumes etc.) can be slashed, but salaries are contractual. I'm concerned TSCC may be too expensive to renew. Low ratings = lower ad revenues

^ Satellite companies had to battle just to be able to offer local channels. Don't blame them, blame the cable companies who lobbied hard against it.

Lower ratings does not necessarily mean lower revenue. Demographics is very important too. One of the reasons why NBC invested in "30 Rock" was because the average income of the show's viewers is high. That's also one of the reasons why it took Fox so long to cancel "Arrested Development."
